βHer prayers are always the prayers of a Mother, and consequently most powerful to obtain whatever she asks.β

Fr. Ripperger: βWe have to be careful about thinking that weβre really good people. We really should think in terms of how St. Augustine defined virtues: itβs God acting IN us WITHOUT us. What that means is that we need to see Godβs goodness in us & not appropriate it.β
I make bean soup with ham hocks the way my dad always has, and one time I left out the bay leaves, and I definitely noticed. It just didn't taste right.
I haven't worked out much at all since Labor Day and now I feel like I'm going to be starting from scratch. π©
Seeing this makes me so sad. I wonder how she feels when she looks in the mirror.
Itβs sad to think features like these have survived centuries, thousands of years of human history.
Hooded eyes, aquiline noses, strong eyebrows, round cheeks, thinner lips, tall, larger built, square jaws, the very faces our mothers, our grandmothers carried, all of it stretching back to queens and peasants alike.
Features that have survived it all, seen it all, and all for you to be told now β well itβs just not attractive.
Imagine inheriting a face shaped by the entirety of human history, imagine being blessed with a beauty that has survived the many rises and falls of humanity, only to be told you now have to give it all up to the vanities of this generation. What worth is beauty without any history? What worth is beauty without meaning? What worth is beauty when it stops being something we recognize and instead becomes just something we manufacture?

I went to visit my mother in the hospital today (she's doing alright, but I'd appreciate any prayers). My son also came to visit. He's been traveling and really went out of his way. I guess we did something right (or else he turned out well in spite of me).
Just rewatched North & South, but this time with the husband. He seemed to enjoy it, so maybe I'll get a rewatch out of him in a few years.
Every time @LilaGraceRose is prominent on my tl it's nothing but a cringe fest.
I love driving, especially long drives. I find it both energizing and relaxing.
I also miss turning a key to start my car, you can't feel the car start in the same way by pushing a button.
In all my research about chickens I missed the part where layer feed can cause kidney damage in hens that are no longer laying because it has too much calcium.
A new social media outrage every week has resulted in many not being able to view anything rationally anymore.
This is an AI feature I can get behind. I get about 2 important emails a month and A LOT of junk.
Now would be a good time for people to binge Fr. Ripperger's talks on the spiritual life, virtue, and sin.
If your first response to seeing a sensational headline from sites like LifeSite isn't "eh, I'll wait for more information", you're doing the Internet wrong.

Itβs all good: βFr. Ripperger readily agreed.β Itβs just giving Fr. Ripperger a well-deserved break.
βArchbishop Golka met with Fr. Ripperger to discuss his ministry & his community, the Society of the Most Sorrowful Motherβ¦the Archbishop asked Fr. Ripperger to consider a one-year fast from public speaking & interviewsβ¦to devote himself to the Society & the people it serves. Fr. Ripperger readily agreed.β
