Sometimes I wonder if we spoil our cats... *looks over to see cat in a radiator hammock bed being hand-fed tiny bits of steak by M* 🙄

Arsenal confirm Katie McCabe will leave this summer, a likelihood first reported by the Guardian in February. McCabe has played 305 times for Arsenal and helped them win the #uwcl in 2025. It was a hard decision for McCabe but she has decided to pursue a new challenge.

Fun fact: I qualify for UC on a nurse‘s fulltime salary in London Maybe tough love the super wealthy & tax them more to pay the rest of us better wages
1 in 8 brits are now on universal credit. This is crazy. It's not sustainable. Time for some tough love to get people self reliant again.

What a thing to read at 15 months postpartum 😬
The scariest finding in this paper: the subjects couldn't tell it was happening. UPenn ran this study on 48 healthy adults. One group slept 8 hours. Another slept 6. Another slept 4. For 14 straight days. They tested cognitive performance every 2 hours from 7:30am to 11:30pm. The 6-hour group's reaction times, working memory, and sustained attention deteriorated on a near-linear curve. By day 14 they were performing at the same level as someone who hadn't slept at all in 48 hours. The 4-hour group hit that threshold by day 6. Here's the part that should unsettle everyone who thinks they "do fine" on 6 hours: the subjects' self-reported sleepiness flatlined after the first few days. Their brains kept getting worse. Their perception of how impaired they were stopped updating. The cognitive decline was invisible to the person experiencing it. The researchers found a hard threshold. Any wakefulness beyond 15.84 hours in a day produces cumulative neurobiological cost. That cost compounds every single day you exceed it and does not reset with a weekend of sleeping in. About 35% of American adults sleep less than 7 hours a night. 40% of those get 6 hours or less. In 1942 that number was 11%. We built an entire professional culture around a sleep schedule that this paper says is functionally equivalent to pulling consecutive all-nighters. "I'm fine on 6 hours" is the most common response to sleep research. The first thing chronic sleep debt destroys is your ability to notice chronic sleep debt.

People who say that unions are too extreme don’t realise that the union was the peaceful compromise.
🚨#BREAKING: Watch as an employee starts a massive fire inside a 1.2 million square foot warehouse filming himself on Instagram as he sets toilet paper packages ablaze 📌#Ontario | #California Watch as a disgruntled employee started a massive fire at a 1.2 million-square-foot Kimberly-Clark warehouse in Ontario, California, with 29-year-old Chamel Abdulkarim arrested on arson charges after filming himself on Instagram setting toilet paper packages on fire and saying You may not pay us enough to f*cking live, but these btches are dirt cheap. In Japan🇯🇵, a married couple was trying to put their baby and cat👶🏻😺 to sleep late at night, and it was captured on camera. They added this note for the cat: 'he doesn't want to feel left out.' 😂♥️

I’d rather have Hannah Spencer dressed in her lovely colourful outfit, than a man in a suit watching tractor porn in the House of Commons.

We put the land use argument to Keith. Keith. You are occupying agricultural land that could, theoretically, be used to grow crops. How do you respond? Keith stopped chewing. He looked at the field. The field is on a 30-degree slope in Devon. The topsoil is clay. The drainage is complicated. No tractor has successfully operated in the lower section without becoming a story people tell in the village pub. Keith looked at us. Keith, do you believe this field could produce food crops without you on it? Keith walked to the lower section of the field. He ate a thistle. He stepped on a bramble runner and ate that too. He looked at the clay in the corner where it waterlogged every winter and produced nothing except rushes, which Keith also ate. Are you saying the field is only productive because you're on it? Keith looked at us with the expression of an animal that has grasped the argument entirely and found the question slightly beneath him. He then left through the gate he had opened by himself. He was in the road for nine minutes. He ate a passing cyclist's energy bar. We are not including this in the land use efficiency report.

Well, Starmer said that a vote for the Greens was a vote for Reform, but it turns out that a vote for the Greens is actually a vote for the Greens. It's a vote for genuine left wing politics, a vote for the planet, a vote for supporting people in need, and a vote for hope.

Stopping Jeremy Corbyn was always the Labour right's goal, not stopping May, Johnson or the Tories. Stopping Zack Polanski and the Greens is their goal, not stopping Farage and Reform.

myspace was the greatest social media platform ever made and nobody gives it enough credit. you had to learn basic html and css just to make your page not look terrible. millions of kids were accidentally learning how to code at 14 because they wanted a cooler profile than their friends that was real engagement. you built something. you problem solved. you googled why your background image was broken and figured it out. every platform since then has gone the opposite direction. simpler layouts, fewer options, zero customization to express one’s self. they don’t want you building anything… they want you scrolling. we went from a generation that taught itself code through myspace to a generation that can’t change a font without an app. and somehow we call it “progress” just my opinion.

So there we have it. Reform UK want to repeal the Equality Act. This is the law that: Stops your boss sacking you for being pregnant. Protects disabled workers who need adjustments to do their job. Backs up equal pay for women. Stops people from being harassed at work because they’re LGBT+. Makes it illegal to refuse someone a job or a service because of their race or religion. And THIS is what they’ve decided is the problem in Britain? Not the cost of living. Not NHS waits. Not wages. (They said they’d actually them CUT for young people) But YOUR rights. THEIR culture wars would TEAR UP protections that millions of hardworking Brits rely on every day. NO THANKS ❌
