I don’t think a lot of people realize that after you go through a horrible tragedy you immediately have to start doing so much admin and it feels absolutely insane. A way you can help friends and loved ones is to offer to take some of that off of them.

From her debut collection, Black Feeling Black Talk (1968), to her decades of work that explored love, politics, race, and identity, her poetry was a beacon for generations.
