As the UN #HLPF2023 comes to an end, I had the opportunity to address commissioner @JuttaUrpilainen and @PaoloGentiloni of the @EU_Commission and other delegates from the @EUatUN on the need for policy coherence in the EU policies with the existing international trade rules.

Had a lunch meeting with Amb. Arthur Kafeero & Alysha of our Permanent Mission in Geneva & @MsBrenda_A of ITC ahead of our panel discussion at the @wto on the Global Review of #AidForTrade2026. I learnt about the work by @ExploreUganda in Switzerland & how it is targeted at the country’s high net worth consumers. They have focused on ice hockey audience, a high value sport here The conversation went to how the same can be done for Uganda’s coffee, a product that is a Swiss national obsession. We are leaving money on the table & agreed that next year we plan some engagements that take us to the coffee market of Switzerland. It promises a handsome payback. We’ll see
This week, I will be in Geneva, Switzerland for the @wto Review of Aid for Trade, where I am honoured to moderate a high-level conversation on Responsible Business Conduct and Due Diligence in Global Value Chains.
This conversation comes at a defining moment for Uganda’s coffee sector, as global expectations around sustainability, traceability and responsible sourcing increasingly shape how our coffee accesses international markets.
I am equally privileged to have an exceptional panel of senior leaders like @rkabushenga , The Deputy representative for Uganda in @geneva_uganda bringing perspectives from diplomacy, international trade policy and the coffee industry.
I look forward to steering this important dialogue and bringing Uganda’s coffee experience to the global stage. @DESIREtheFARMER
Today, I proudly graduate with a Degree in International Oil and Gas Management from @VUKampala Grateful for the journey and excited for what lies ahead! ✨
Yesterday, we joined The Ministry of Agriculture and Uganda Coffee Federation to celebrate International Coffee Day in Hoima District, Bunyoro sub-region.
For Bunyoro, coffee represents enormous potential to transform livelihoods, create opportunities for young people and strengthen household incomes. With the right investments and market linkages, the region has so much more to offer Uganda’s coffee story. @MAAIF_Uganda @DESIREtheFARMER @rkabushenga

Earlier today, @RubangaCoffee flagged off a cohort of 50 young women trained in coffee roasting and barista skills. A very important step towards putting value addition in the hands of young people and growing Uganda’s domestic coffee consumption.
Delivered by @volcanocoffee1 under the leadership of Uganda’s senior coffee roaster @GKatabazi, The young women were also introduced to the Ethiopian model of accessible, small-scale coffee roasting, demonstrating that value addition does not always have to begin with multimillion shilling equipment.
Sometimes, it can begin with a charcoal stove, a pan, coffee beans and the right skills.
By lowering the cost of roasting, we can lower the cost of a cup of coffee, stimulate local consumption and create realistic business opportunities for young women across the coffee value chain.
This initiative is Implemented under the #EYE_CProject with support from aBi Development. @DESIREtheFARMER
