Sora 2 looks impressive.
What's even more impressive is how little I care to watch anything made using it.

Everyone saying AI is going to replace people clearly don’t work with great people enough

Here's a great writeup by my colleague Ketan about what we do to actually achieve world-class uptime on Fin. This is actually differentiating heavy lifting. fin.ai/research/fin-running-…

World-class uptime and performance is far from trivial to achieve when you're building using LLMs right now. You don't need all-the-nines of uptime if you're generating Ghibili pics or summarising a meeting, but if Fin can't answer because of LLM downtime, we lose money.

Unfortunately, my little sister's cancer has returned and she's back in the hospital. The doctors have a treatment plan and she has a student insurance plan active until the end of the month, since she just graduated.
Even though her insurance is still active, Blue Cross Blue Shield refuses to start treatment until she has new insurance coverage, even though cancer is a very time sensitive disease for treatment and there are significant risks to her health and life if treatment is delayed. Does anybody have experience in dealing with insurance companies refusing to cover life-saving treatment?

Random data dump - Intercom now does 150k RPS HTTPS requests and 50k async worker requests at daily peak. Also 1 million RPS on PlanetScale!

I wrote about our experience using Elasticsearch for running Fin.
A new entry on our Intercom AI blog from @_ketanbhatt, about our decision to stick with @elastic as opposed to adopting a new VectorDB for Fin.
tl;dr: operational knowledge is valuable, and ES will do vectors.

Amazing!!!! Go Nadia 🤩
So well deserved 🙌✨
Honoured to be featured on the front page of @Apple’s UK App Store today as part of their “Black, British and brilliant”* Black History Month campaign! ✨

ALT Shot of Nadia sitting amidst a tower of colour books in a blue outfit with a light blue large book open on her lap. The text superimposed on the image reads: "How to read more with StoryGraph. This founder has the app and the advice to turn you into a bookworm."

ALT Screenshot of a summary of the article: "Read more with StoryGraph. Is there anyone on the planet who doesn't wish they read more books? Nadia Odunayo created an app to help you do just that. Find out her top tips for becoming a super-reader and discover spot-on reading recommendations from StoryGraph that will suit your reading mood."
A friend visiting Lagos for the first time asked for recommendations of things to do.
Started writing up stuff in notes, an hour later and now I’m homesick 🥲
