#OnThisDay 46 years ago, school teacher and trade unionist Blair Peach was killed by a police officer during an anti-racism protest in Southall.
The police officer was let off without being charged.
As trade unionists, we will continue to stand up to racism and the far right.

The irony of MP's (who are claiming far more in benefits than their already generous wages) complaining about benefits being too expensive is not lost on anyone.

Today, we met with Chancellor @RachelReevesMP, Deputy PM @AngelaRayner, and Mayor of London @SadiqKhan to discuss the Government's plans to review licensing, which UKHospitality will play a major part in, alongside industry colleagues.
Cutting red tape, boosting our competitiveness and more powers for the Mayor to review blocked applications are all much-needed, and deliver on many of our campaigning asks.

Mone and Barrowman lied. They told an enormous fib - that they didn't own PPE Medpro - and then sent lawyers to threaten journalists who were exposing the fib.
I've no idea why they think anyone will believe this new statement.

Mick Lynch wants a progressive wealth tax with the richest paying the same as everyone else on PAYE, 47%.
That would bring in hundred of billions, it is time for the richest to pay what everyone else has been paying their whole lives.

'Balancing the books' on the backs of poor and disabled people was wrong when the Tories did it, and it would be wrong now.
Itβs a political choice - one that could push 700,000 households into poverty.
Our government should instead tax the ballooning wealth of the super-rich.

ULEZ works. Itβs that simple.
Expanding the Ultra Low Emission Zone wasnβt a decision I took lightly, but the latest figures show that it was the right one for the health of millions of Londoners.

ALT A graphic with a blue sky background and white clouds. The text reads: "Harmful NO2 levels are estimated to be lower in 2024 compared to a scenario without ULEZ". The reductions are listed as follows: Central London β 54% lower, Inner London β 29% lower, Outer London β 24% lower.
