Buildings across campus, including Harrington Tower, will be lit up in blue lights tonight to honor the positive impact of teachers in our lives for World Teachers’ Day. Don’t forget to tell an educator how much they mean to you, and maybe give them an apple (or two). 📚 ✏️ 🍎

The most exciting thing in education is seeing a students face light up because they just, “got it.”

⏱ Wait time⏱ between asking a question and calling on someone for an answer — as well as waiting to respond to an answer — is an important strategy to include all learners.
Sketchnote via @ValentinaESL

ALT The power of wait time. Students need to listen to the question. Students may need time to build up courage for responding. Students need to process what they've heard. Students raise their hand in an effort to be heard. Students may need to translate from one language to another. Why should I wait? Wait 1: The time between the question and the answer. Wait 2: The time after the student answers the question. This wait time allows for an extended response.

Teachers, remember to give your students plenty of opportunities to make mistakes. Mistakes grow your brain and make students think differently about a concept. It’s how the best kind of learning occurs.
Besides, ‘being perfect all the time’ is just a disguise for insecurity.
