20yrs ago today I started my time in @HumbleISD on my very first day of kindergarten at @HumbleISD_SFE
Next week, I start year 4 as an educator in the district that I grew up in!
Here’s to another year of pouring into kids the same way Humble ISD poured into me for 13 years!❤️
Today we analyzed a map of the Battle of Yorktown to determine how geography, leadership and the French alliance led to British surrender— and these two decided to recreate the map on their desk to find alternate plans. Such a great day of conversation!

This…There are entirely too many people making decisions about what works in classrooms without the consultation of experienced classroom teachers. and instructional support and leadership, and it is leading to teacher resentment, apathy, and implementation w/o fidelity.
Today we broke out the cameras for the first time to cover the cross country meet and one of my girls exclaimed “THIS IS SO MUCH FUN!”
Today in US History class, we had a conversation about bias within the Boston Massacre that were so good I forgot to take pics
Love my job♥️♥️

The celebration is about to happen, and the work to elevate continues!
The best part about @HumbleISD is that not only will they pour into this little girl for 13yrs as a student & help make her dream of being a teacher come true, but they then laid the path for her to become an IC as well💛
Celebrating 25yrs (9 as a teacher) with Humble today🥰
Loved spending the last two days with our incredible Humble ISD Social Studies department as we examined new strategies, dove into the curriculum and set the game plan for another incredible year of growth. #FreedomFest250 @humble_SocSt

So many smiles today as teachers learned from instructional coaches, other teachers, and some of our favorite vendors.

A high school history teacher in Pennsylvania who helps students look inward to find their strengths and outward to find community inside and outside the classroom has been named the 2026 National Teacher of the Year. abcnews.link/012ityH
The MOST deserving!!
Megan Ortiz, who is in her eighth year of her second stint at Kingwood Park, received the 2026 Max R. Haddick Journalism Teacher of the Year Award.
"There are few places with stronger journalism programs and advisers than in Texas. It is an honor just to work amongst them, let alone be honored for an award like this."
