Sick of picking up an African inspired fantasy and the love interest is white. If there's one type of story they should be left out of it's that!

Gonna repost this every time I come across a Black fantasy book with a hidden white/white passing man as a love interest. Folks purposefully conceal that during marketing.

I wanted to give it a go in between work, how did I do?
If I tried to draw this character I would be labeled a racist

Said I was gonna repost this every time I come across a Black Fantasy with a racially ambiguous love interest. Why is it a constant thing? youtu.be/_QZrzFhtqaU?si=Vzmi…

I side eye a lot of y'all favorite authors who only write interracial romance or racially ambiguous love interests. Because there's always some underlying self-hate in the mix. Cuz I've seen some questionable shit in these bookish internet streets the past 7 years.

Lots of people were saying, "I don't write Black characters like the Black people I grew up with" "Black Romance doesn't make money so I don't write it" "I can't relate to Black Love because it's not my experience" and now they're rebranding with Black Romance books.

Grpahic novels are great but we also need to put prose in front of kids too. I see it with my niece. She read above grade level but she's starting to only pick up graphic novels and disregard reading other books that might take her longer to read.
There is nothing wrong with reading graphic novels, guys. Believe it or not, there are high school level graphic novels that teachers read in the classroom with their students. How is it only now you are doing anything abt your son’s vocabulary anyway? 😭

Tried the expensive tuna. It's pretty dry! Not worth the price. Got some of tinned fish from them still to try.

So I hear the "let kids read what they enjoy" and they can. But they also need to read books outside of their comfort zone to improve their reading. They key is having a good balance of both. And in school you should definitely be reading books that challenge you.
Our librarian gets annoyed with me because I try to steer the kids away from graphic novels and "Diary of a Wimpy Kid." I'm sorry, but you're in 8th grade and you have the vocabulary of a 5th grader. It's time to grow up a bit!!

This post was very abrasive and I hope OP is not as harsh offline but it is a teacher's job to challenge students.

Actually, different salaries should only affect how luxurious your life is, not your food quality or ability to afford rent. If you work 40 hours at any job, your income should be enough to live in the town you work in. Thinking otherwise is an abysmal indicator of your humanity

"You don't see any pushback when Black men write IR romance!" Such a stupid counter when Black men barely write romance books. The ones who do and write IR are usually gay and yall don't buy or read their books anyway!
