Bigotry is undoubtedly one of our biggest problems in this part of the world. That one Yorùbá cultural custodian, for instance, would have no problem with a fellow Yorùbá man marrying a woman from New York or Britain. But let that same man bring home a wife from Anambra, Enugu, or even Edo, and suddenly, all hell breaks loose. Apparently, marrying across continents is more acceptable than marrying across Nigerian ethnic lines. If your culture can accommodate a foreigner but not your fellow Nigerian, perhaps the problem isn't cultural preservation. Perhaps, it's ethnic chauvinism disguised in cultural attire.

While we are discussing Prados and while the APC is campaigning, pls I’m begging Nigerians to remember that there are STILL 42 kids kidnapped since 15th of May in Borno state.

This is what all the reforms are for btw @deiilucis. Superficially stronger macros to get more loans. It's kicking the can down the road. Even worse, it's selling you & me, barely 21 years old, down the river. There are no reforms, there's no long-term vision. Na fugazi.

I beg all of your pardons!!!!!??????
I do agree with you about the distrust. I don't trust the government, too. But higher taxes will definitely do wonders for our economy. That's indisputable.

Nigeria as it is doesn't need higher taxes. A service economy with a significant informal work force doesn't need higher taxes. The one they're currently collecting where is the social contract?

See what I’m saying? A man rapes his wife violently and somehow this is on women? We are nothing but simple cautionary tales. So dehumanising. ☹️
women judge you for not wanting to get married then this is their life

Well, Its been over a year since I last picked up my brushes. May Nigeria never happen to you. A silent but weighty prayer. Even in the slightest form, may it not!🫡

We really are poor people, and it’s not even about money We are poor in conscience. Poor in morals. Poor in honor. The country cannot change if the masses don’t change. Period!

What I'm suspecting will happen is that thise Nigerians abroad will do wonders with Nollywood, while we are here convincing ourselves that our audience is too stupid to get a joke.

A change in the Pacific Ocean may seem far removed from our daily lives in Nigeria. But our vulnerability is shaped by inequality: where we live, how much we earn, the work we do, our access to healthcare, clean water, reliable information and social protection. #ElNiño

Okay o
BREAKING: Japan to urge all citizens to stockpile at least 3 days of food and water in preparation for major disasters and events, with an official emergency request set for November 2. "At least three days, and I'd like to say a week if possible… please prepare food, toilets, and water properly at home even without public assistance," Japan's Disaster Management says. It comes just 2 days after the Pentagon started to prepare every major US military base to operate for at least 90 days without outside electricity, fuel, water or supplies, anticipating a major war. The UK launched the "Be Ready" program 5 days ago, also advising all citizens to keep 3 days of key supplies, including bottled water, non-perishable food, and a battery or wind-up FM radio.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Japan's call for citizens to stockpile at least 3 days of supplies is longstanding official advice for natural disasters like earthquakes and is tied to the scheduled November 2 launch of its new National Disaster Management Agency. japantimes.co.jp/news/2026/09/2… maff.go.jp/j/zyukyu/foods… ibtimes.co.uk/japan-househol…

if you need recommendations, holla.
That SNL Nollywood sketch is incredible. Apparently I need to start watching classic Nollywood. Absolutely wonderful. Cynthia Erivo needs to do more comedy, she's great.

Something has happened to feminist consciousness online to make women defeatist about misogyny because instead of reading this drivel from this sack of piglet and fighting the rhetoric or at least insulting him like they used to, women are using this as a gotcha for other women. It is not enough that men are shaming women for having sex, you have to double-down and reinforce it until it becomes law. It is that easy to shame you into submission.
My first job out of college, sitting there in a presentation by some girlboss, old guy next to me leans over and whispers “she bends over and takes it just like any other”
