Look Outside talks about this and i HEAVILY implore anyone interested in cosmic horror to give the game a try
This is the most criminally underrated game of all time and by far the best take on cosmic horror since H.P Lovecraft died
The idea that Cthulhu eats souls is not found in any of Lovecraft's writings and, in fact, he probably would have rejected the idea. The notion that souls exist implies humans are imbued with some sort of "spark of the divine" and this is incompatible with his philosophy that humans are insignificant and the universe is indifferent to us, which is the very crux of cosmic horror.
