Excited to get @MullerHitting going.
I’m the varsity hitting coach for the Marian Catholic Spartans.
This page is here to:
• Talk hitting
• Highlight our guys
In 2026 our hitters set school records in team 2B, individual HR and RBI.
In 2027 we want more.

2028 @laceyrogersjr_ ‘s third year on varsity incoming:
When the mechanics are right, you get the power and launch quickness.
Try to stop the video at just the moment before the bat moves. See how close the ball is.
1) This swing will play against velo.
2) He can be adjustable because he gets to track the pitch for a long time before he has to swing.
Lookout for this name to explode onto the scene this year. Will be an RBI machine.

Loud contact from OF/1B Jazarris Mackmore Jr (Marian Catholic, 2027).
Plates a run on his second hit on the day.
Currently ranked No. 16 in Illinois.

I know this is a home run but Murakami has been struggling lately.
I see him rushing his hand load compared to earlier in the season.
With this move, he has to time up the hand load exactly with the pitch. A more controlled move would give him more adjustability.
Kid is a stud! He was a great 3-sport athlete. Can’t wait to see how good he gets at baseball now that it has his full focus.
R-Freshman playing game 1 @_HarperBaseball at Friday 9/18 8:00am @DingerJUCO Oasis green field. Looking for 4 year opportunities.

2027 @JazarrisM is an absolute menace at the plate. (a thread)
He set the Marian Catholic single season home run and RBI record as a junior.
But how did he do it? Let’s check out him blasting a fastball over the RCF fence ->
Two more lower half moves that make JR elite:
1) The front side of the lower half acts as the balance and brakes. You can see his front side firm up at just right time to move the energy up his body.
2) The hips get square at contact.
This is an A+ swing that is on time for a fastball. But can he hit off speed?
ADJUSTABILITY
Two Strike Count. Major League Field. Ton of Scouts.
Here you see a high pressure situation where JR shows off his adjustability. With two strikes, he’s geared up for the fastball and you can see his swing starts little early for the slider. Because of his mechanics, he’s able to keep the hands back and send this one out of the park.
Whatever college coach likes scoring runs the most is going to get this guy.

@ChiScoutsAssoc
Both swings on XBH this past weekend including an opposite field GS HR. Very few uncommitted players left in the ‘27 class that blend this level of athleticism & power hitting upside
@JazarrisM @WhitesoxAce @SpartnBaseball
’27 OF Jazarris Mackmore Jr. (IL) gets all of this pitch, barreling it deep over the RCF fence. Strong lower half with good separation in the load while staying inside the ball. One of the top uncommitted players in the 2027 class. #BestofMW @ChiScoutsAssoc @PG_Uncommitted
Don’t overlook the concept of muscle memory.
That first time you make a tweak in the cage and it’s working?
That’s just the start. Nothing has changed yet. Your mind knows, but your body doesn’t.
Teach the body. Over and over. Dry cuts in front of a mirror are great.

In high school, hitting is hard.
Hitting .400 is hard.
The big hit in front of a scout is hard.
Staying in the lineup is hard.
Trying to help your team score runs is fun. That’s the mindset.
Go light up the scoreboard with your boys. The rest takes care of itself.
Hand Path vs Bat Path (a thread)
How do we get on plane early while being direct to the ball?
Here is a 95+ EV 2B from @laceyrogersjr_ . Notice the sound off the bat.
The blue box shows the hand path.
The hands turn, but as a whole they stay direct to the ball.
A common side effect of trying to get on plane early is loopy hands - hands that drop below the blue box.
This is good hand path and good bat path.
Hand path and bat path have to work together.
That’s how you stay direct to the ball and still get on plane early.
Common flaws I see:
“Get on plane deep in the zone”
Gets turned into loopy hands or a swing that gets too uphill.
“Be direct to the ball”
Gets turned into a steep bat path that doesn’t get on plane deep in the zone. Less margin for error.
This is where cues like “turn the barrel” or “the barrel works rearward” come in.
Well save that for another day.
