A catalyst moment in the life and career of Harry Kane!
Jose Mourinho Ignited Kane beyond limits, like he did with Lampard and many others throughout his career!
He won the playmaker and top goalscorer award that season, and he truly started to believe 🙌

Unopposed doesn’t mean without context.
It means without opposition.
Those are two very different things.
⚽️ 5 THINGS EVERY 1-TO-1 FOOTBALL SESSION NEEDS
1️⃣ Start with the ball — maximise touches from minute one.
2️⃣ Make it look like the game — give every practice context and purpose.
3️⃣ Keep the player moving — football isn’t static.
4️⃣ Always have an end product — passing, shooting, crossing or creating chances.
5️⃣ Develop both feet — create more complete footballers.
After 20+ years developing players from grassroots to Premier League level, one thing is clear:
Great individual coaching isn’t about how many drills you know. It’s about HOW you coach them.

Did Bergkamp mean that touch?
Ex Ajax Skills Coach Michel Hordijk recollects his conversation with Bergkamp about the infamous piece of skill.
Interesting implications in terms of how we develop skilful footballers.

Playing when overloaded hardly ever gets coached, I don’t see many coaches setup 1v2 or 3, 2v3, or 4…… many goals are scored at the highest level when the attack is underloaded.
If a child at all levels can learn to attempt to figure out problems, find solutions and cope when overloaded, and theres more pressure on players to connect and find combined solutions, it could be a critical part of their learning.
Same for the 1v1 duels, a player that can find solutions and stand on their own two footballing feet, is a better footballer…. connect those qualities with a team mate and you have a greater chance of success.
Practice 1v1, overloads and under-loads to develop football IQ!
I think we spend far too much time coaching 2v1 overloads in youth football.
Of course, 2v1s are an important part of the game.
But are we making things too easy for young players?
Some coaches actually prefer 2v1 practices over 1v1s because of the decision-making involved.
I disagree.
For me, the 1v1 presents a far greater challenge. It’s like comparing solving a Rubik’s Cube with completing an eight-piece puzzle.
In a 2v1, the solution is easy!
In a 1v1, the player has to find a way to beat their opponent. They need technical quality, movement, deception, timing and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
Of course, players need to recognise and exploit overloads.
But I’d much rather develop this through 2v2 and 3v3 games, where players are challenged to create the overload themselves, rather than simply being presented with one.
Stop giving players the overload. Teach them how to create it.

Couldn't agree more.
We’re building players who know where to stand and can look for a pass, but cannot escape pressure when it comes.
I see it constantly

Coaches talk a lot about unbalancing teams.
But perhaps we should be talking more about unbalancing individual players.
Because a successful 1v1 can break down even the best tactical organisation.
One moment of individual brilliance can change a game.
This is why I believe 1v1 development should be at the heart of every youth football curriculum, whether at federation or club level.
We spend so much time teaching players how to play within a team structure, but are we giving them enough time to develop the ability to beat an opponent?
The ability to dominate 1v1 situations, break pressure, break lines and create opportunities is fundamental to developing game-changing players.
Develop players who can dominate the 1v1, and you’ll develop better teams.
