MJ fans believe Jordan’s Finals appearances make him the GOAT over LeBron. Meanwhile, MJ had better teams and weaker opponents, which shows in the fact his odds to win were 4 points higher, on average. Once again, MJ has a lower bar to clear, one that’s treated as equal.

It looks like @RealMikeWilbon is taking some time off. He’s one of the biggest cheerleaders for how GREAT everything supposedly was in the NBA in the 90s. Here’s what he actually said about MJ’s Finals competition, before his biases and defensiveness took over. Very different.
MICHAEL WILBON: WHAT HE THOUGHT OF MJ’S FINALS COMPETITION 🧵 Old heads trust @RealMikeWilbon, right? He can’t even get through a PTI episode without mentioning MJ. So, when he was a writer for the WA Post in the 90s, he thought MJ’s competition was GREAT, right? Take a look.

Did you know Larry Bird was a cancer on the Celtics 1990 team? “Bird’s the Root of Evil on Celtics.” —Boston Herald Anonymous teammates went to the press and said he was “tearing the team apart.” Shooting too much. Destroying chemistry. He also undermined the coach.

Never forget that LeBron played the hardest late playoff minutes in the last 40+ years in the 2011 playoffs. Of course, not a word was said on TV about exhaustion in fourth quarters. Dallas saw it. Watch it. It’s on film.

I believe the standards are that everyone should be calling for Luka to retire now. He’s embarrassing himself and sport too much.

Here’s Hubie Brown saying that Michael Jordan was blaming teammates in 1990 because Jordan was: “Embarrassed at the defensive end of the floor…Dumars and Johnson are lighting him up.” This is in a series he LOST. How would it be treated if it were LeBron?
Replying to @MythNix
Ain’t nothing new. He stayed blaming them.

Michael Jordan gets credit for supposedly never criticizing his teammates and always taking responsibility. Meanwhile, he ACTUALLY ran around and complained about his teammates all the time. Here’s another one. “The guys didn’t show up tonight.”

Jordan fans all talk about what a “losing” organization the Bulls were in their early 80s before Jordan showed up. Meanwhile, here’s Michael Jordan HIMSELF talking about how the 1985 Bulls had a “winning attitude” PRIOR to the start of the season. Undermines the narrative, no?

We all know that LeBron James was the greatest choking loser ever. OBVIOUSLY. But did you know his head coach at ages 40-41 has the greatest record for head coaches with a lead at halftime…ever? AND JJ did it with the biggest choking idiot EVER? JJ must be INCREDIBLE.
JJ Redick has an 81-9 record as a head coach when leading at halftime The 90% win percentage is the best in NBA history

Jordan at age 39…

“Jordan has also retarded the growth of this team.” “It was all about Mike.” “Hopefully his ego and itch has been pacified.” “The Jordan burnout factor is at a premium.” “A new chapter is…definitely needed for the Wizards and the league.” Sounds like a GOAT to me!

Hey look everyone! I’ve “ruined sports” for “so many people.” My little account has ruined baseball and football and basketball for TONS of people! I’m so proud. Simply applying the old head standards to other eras has “ruined sports” for them. Sad.
All you do is apply your sociopath logic. you’ve ruined sports for so many people, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Old Heads: “I hate this. This league is SO soft. Did you ever see Michael Jordan tear up over a teammate injury? NO. Man up. In our day, if someone had soft bones, we’d just kick them off the team. No mercy. We were TOUGH. Not like this crying pussy. I HATE the NBA now.”
Shai can’t even do his interview without crying 💔

In the last couple games, Lebron cleared a combined 73,485 minutes across playoffs and regular season games. That’s 25,000 more minutes than Jordan played. The equivalent of Kawhi’s entire regular season career. What’s the narrative? Oh yeah…Jordan worked harder. 🤦‍♂️

I was told Scottie Pippen had to be “made” by MJ, and wasn’t even good in 1988. Here’s the LA Times on November 3, 1987: “Then there is Pippen’s growing stature as a star of the future and possible equal.” Equal to JORDAN. A week into his career. When do the lies stop?

Bronny James makes the Laker squad and, of course, gets the following from Laker fans, per Twitter: They don’t have the “guts” to cut him Bronny is toxic Bronny is the worst draft pick ever (only Laker draft pick in the last 10 yrs with the team) Stay classy, Kobe fans.

Lebron is continually criticized for being “carried” to the Finals in 2007 by Gibson. Gibson was 21. I’m not sure why LeBron doesn’t get credit for “making” him, like others do. Did you know LeBron’s starter teammates played 23 seconds in that 4th quarter? GOAT.

This should disqualify Jordan from being the GOAT, right? A one-time champion head coach was the “biggest star” in Chicago. Doesn’t this undo all the “Jordan had the biggest aura” arguments? Imagine if people said LeBron was a lesser star than Sean McVay.
"He was larger than life. ... Michael Jordan was a global icon and certainly beloved in Chicago, but Mike Ditka was the biggest star in Chicago sports." @Espngreeny explains how much of an impact Mike Ditka had on the city of Chicago 🙌 (via @PatMcAfeeShow)

Larry Bird gets a free pass for his “chokes.” He lost game 7 in 1982 vs the Sixers. Here’s what Dick Stockton said on the broadcast before it started. Nobody thought Boston would lose. This is how Bird is treated hypothetically. He’d always win. Reality was different.
