Baker Mayfield said he was pushing to get back to play against the Steelers but it wasn’t quite ready.

Bucs QB Baker Mayfield on salvaging the 1-5 start. “We’ve got to take it one game at a time, and you know our opponent this week is the one leading division, and so we got to take care of business this week, and that's all that matters,” Mayfield said. “It's going to be early on to be a one game at a time mentality, but listen, our guys are ready for it, and we'll see what happens.”

Bucs have an illness ripping through the locker room. RB Bucky Irving, CB Zyon McCollum did not practice. P Riley Dixon (illness) was a full participant.

Bucs coach Todd Bowles said Baker Mayfield was “effective” and it was “encouraging” how he practiced today. He played with a glove on his right hand and felt comfortable.
