At today's NYS Senate hearing, @aaldef's Bethany Li describes how Kum Gang San hid its assets to avoid paying $2.7 million judgment that we secured in wage theft case for Asian and Latino workers. The #SWEATAct is needed to hold employers responsible for labor law violations.

🚫 every day that passes without the banning of the 24 hour rule is another day of regressive 'collective collusion between 1199-CPC and Adrian Adams against these homecare workers. #BanThe24
It's a city problem, because the 24-hour workdays only exist in New York City — not in other parts of the state. We work with colleagues who organize home care workers upstate, including Buffalo, who tell us that 24-hour care up there is provided by split shifts.

The insurance & home care industry are openly stealing a billion dollars a year from home care attendants by pushing 24 hour shifts and only paying 13 hours. Split shifts cost insurance companies. 24 hour shifts cost providers bc they have to pay overtime. This is the kind of systemic exploitation that comes with outsourcing care work. – at Queens, NY
Happy #MayDay2023 and the beginning of #APAHerititageMonth Will you stand with Asian immigrant women workers to put an end to 24-hour work shifts?

May 1st= May Day Happy International workers day! Today we visited city hall to protest the inhumane 24 hour workday for home health care workers! Intro 175 is a bill I have signed onto which calls for a mandatory maximum 12 hour work day instead of 24! Let’s stand with our international workers today and fight for what’s right!
