Prevention is better than cure, there are quite a number of organizations such as @NOPEKENYA that are doing a good job in advocating for public health emergency preparedness and more stakeholders are needed to make our country healthy again. We need to probe the economic, social and cultural impacts and the general public repercussions that comes with neglecting our public health preparedness.

Noticing a troubling trend in Kenya: recurring yearly epidemics like cholera, malaria, measles dengue, alongside emerging threats like Mpox , COVID-19 and looming threat of Marburg. Our geographic position and proximity to neighboring outbreak zones is continuously heightening our vulnerability to health crises. We need to tighten our prepared measures.
With new Mpox cases in Mombasa, Nakuru and Nairobi the ministry is urging Kenyans to defer non essential travel to areas with Mpox transmission and advising we limit the number of interactions (Sexual partners),we use hand wash /sanitizer to reduce exposure. Are we looking at lockdown measures again?.Will this affect holiday Travel plans during the festive season to the coast and our village homes?(In turn might affect transport/movement, tourism, social events, trade)
Mpox has been endemic in central and west africa for decades and its here. How long before Marburg pays a visit which has a 23.8% fatality rate in Rwanda.15 lives lost by professionals due to Marburg virus. (According to the minister of Health Dr.Sabin Nsanzimana to the African CDC webinar). Are we ready to respond to the Marburg virus?Say one of our points of entry(borders) is sabotaged.
Would you take an MPox Vaccine ?Why/ Why not?( Gauge public trust)

Our healthcare system needs resources to be ready for the next crisis—saving lives, stabilizing our economy, and building resilient communities. With a dedicated budget line, we can ensure our hospitals, clinics, and frontline workers are prepared, equipped, and empowered to respond quickly to any health emergency.
Legislators, include a public health emergency preparedness and response fund in the budget to protect Kenya’s future. Investing in readiness today means a safer, stronger Kenya tomorrow.
