By Dr Colen Tuaundu Namibia’s 2024 National Graduate Survey, published this year, presents an uncomfortable contradiction. Among respondents from the 2019–2021 cohorts answering the employment question, 34% reported being unemployed. Meanwhile, the government is expanding access through subsidised tertiary education, which will produce more graduates in the coming years. The challenge is to match this investment in qualifications with opportunities to expand employment. Namibia must connect university curriculum transformation with investment in industries able to employ graduates and commercialise their knowledge. thebrief.com.na/2026/10/qual… #namibia #education #unemployment #graduates @NUST_Namibia

By Dr Wanja Njuguna Over the years, country to country collaborations between developing and developed countries have seen nations thrive as they exchange information, bilateral trade agreements, and cultural exchanges. But in recent years, city to city collaborations across the continent and beyond have taken root, as the recent ‘Jiangxi Culture Goes to International Sister Cities (Namibia)’ media publicity event showcased. The relationship dates back to Namibia's independence. “In 1990, just one day after our flag was raised, the People's Republic of China established diplomatic relations with an independent Namibia,” Khomas Regional Governor Hon Sam Nujoma told attendees at the event on 09 September 2026. His Excellency Dr Sam Nujoma, Namibia's founding president, travelled to China many times over his lifetime and regarded the Chinese people as comrades, not only in the struggle for political freedom, but also for economic emancipation. thebrief.com.na/2026/10/how-… #namibia #development #bilateraltrade #economy #collaborations @NUST_Namibia
