Even Ledger has been exploited, so the truth is: nothing is 100% safe.
By the way, 6 years ago @cz_binance shared a few security principles that still hold up today. Worth a re-read:
🔶 Choose a reputable exchange. Binance is now a Tier 1 exchange with top-level security. It also maintains a SAFU fund worth over $1 billion as a reserve against potential risks.
🔶 Guard your private key and seed phrase carefully.
🔶 Turn on 2FA and use strong passwords.
🔶 Watch out for fake links and scams.
🔶 Back up your wallet. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.

One security tip.
When you buy a hardware wallet (or download a new software wallet), leave it for a couple of weeks before moving any meaningful amount of funds to it.
And follow the news in those weeks (and after), for hacks, etc. Hardware can be tempered with, software official website can be hacked. Self custody comes with extra responsibilities.
