It’s almost amazing that someone can talk about a topic for DECADES and avoid learning the most basic elements of the view they’re trying to argue against.
Is @DrFrankTurek a fool or a liar?
lol beware of the all loving god!
"If you thought drowning babies was bad, you haven't seen the half of it!" - Christian that thinks God's nature is the foundation of morality
Christians in America have no idea what to do with art. They only know literalism.
Every time something Christian doesn’t align exactly with their theology they declare heresy and warn others to stay away, lest they be contaminated.
Chill out, guys.
Christians still cannot get this right because they only know apologetics and refused to even attempt to understand moral philosophy.
It’s effectively an argument from ignorance. Maybe the weakest argument for god.
Thought experiment for Christians:
Imagine we found out that the universe was designed by a purely evil God. He loves the disease and natural disasters and black holes, and we know that it's his desire to maximize suffering and destruction.
Given the way the world is right now, would we be able to rationally conclude that the evil god is all powerful?
A lot of breath and brain power is wasted, by Christians and Atheists alike, on trying to "PROVE" things.
Sometimes we can deduce the answer to specific philosophical questions, but the vast majority of the time it's abductive. We're looking for the "best explanation" based on everything we do and do not know.
In our current moment, that seems to clearly favor Naturalistic explanations, and leaves Theists to primarily put forward God of the Gaps appeals.
I believe discussion and debate would be much more productive if we kept this abductive frame and ignored the temptation to try "defeat" the other side at every opportunity.
This view is morally insane.
And is contradictory with a god that is all-loving.
They’re convinced they’re so worthless that they shouldn’t think it’s blameworthy for god to will people to eternity in hell.
It’s evil, which would be more disturbing if it wasn’t also so stupid
