This is why she’s incomparable. To be the baby sibling of such giants, she couldve coasted if she wanted to. She rose to the occasion, met the standard, and set the standard a few times herself. Janet Jackson is Showbiz History. Music History. Black History. Royalty.

Can we talk about how many incredible sibling groups have come out of Black music? The Jackson 5/The Jacksons, The Isley Brothers, The Pointer Sisters, Sister Sledge, The Emotions, and DeBarge. The harmonies, the chemistry, the musical talent running through entire families. It’s actually remarkable how much these groups contributed to the sound of R&B, soul, funk, disco, and pop.

If yall are true MJ historians…you know this is 100% true. Mans practiced his dancing on “The Knowledge”, he wanted “Dangerous” and his later albums to have hard hitting sounds like RN.

Happy 42nd birthday to Thundercat!
A bass virtuoso who sings and writes as much as he plays. Jazz, funk and electronic elements, solo albums, and a key collaborator with Flying Lotus.

EXCEPTIONNEL !

Janet Jackson’s influence goes far beyond choreography. It’s in the vocals, the production, the genre-blending, the visuals, and the freedom to define your own artistry. Artists like Tinashe, Ravyn Lenae, etc are STILL naming her as an inspiration. That’s a legacy you can hear.

janet jackson lowk the smartest person in the music business cause imagine if she let her father control the sound of her career. her choice to leave and team up with jimmy jam and terry lewis to create control + all her future projects made her into one of the most successful and versatile artists ever

When you think about Stevie Wonder’s contributions to soul, funk, and R&B and Janet Jackson’s influence on contemporary R&B, dance-pop, and New Jack Swing, the amount of musical history connected to this family is mind-blowing.
