After reading a ROCOR social media directive that advised using one's own name, I have done just that. It was for clergy, which I am not, but did say it could be beneficial for laymen.

Ultimately we will all be judged. Arguing online about denomination for most won't be much of a defense when we are being judged for unrepentant sins. Go the one you think is the Body of Christ and defends tradition of it and pray for those outside it.

if you're racist just say so, i'd easily bring my 9-month old baby for a walk through that crowd. I guarantee they're probably nicer people than every far-right nazi. they literally just want more schoolbooks
Total chaos outside the symbol of Christianity in Milan, the Cathedral. Paper bombs, firecrackers, cars destroyed, attacks on police, insults and shouting right in front of the Duomo. No Italian, not even the worst, would dare to light fires and shoot fireworks against the Duomo. An insult that cannot be explained and forgotten.

How else but with rage and grief is a body supposed to react to watching the world he knew be destroyed? What other emotions aside from mourning and fury can we expect? England is for the English, France is for the French, and so on in each country. But Europe and the UK are, in a sense, a part of the patrimony of an American. They are part of the West. America is a descendant, now a cousin, of England. France lent us help in the American revolution. Enlightenment ideas that built the modern West flowed between us. It's not like watching a distant star supernova; it is to watch your cousins' house burn while the arsonists laugh and your cousins stand there doing nothing but crying. It's awful. I'm from the 20th century. If you're younger, you won't be able to feel this the way people like me do. With a few years, you will feel something similar based on your own time. We're watching the last of the 20th century be destroyed deliberately with no one willing to stop it. The police clocked out, the guards went to sleep. Everything good, everything worth preserving, every piece of the past that acted as a base on which to build a hopeful future is being burned and shattered. Gleefully. There's no way to say this so that you really hear it for what it is; you only hear a cliche. But it's *real*, still. No one in my cohort or above could ever have imagined we'd live to see such times. This was outside the possibilities we could have imagined. Yes, we were foolish to believe in permanence, I know. But we did believe, and now is a time of deep sorrow, foolish though we may have been. You know how you saw the Statue of Liberty covered in sand in Planet of the Apes and thought, "compelling for a movie, but man, that could never happen." It is happening. It's not a movie. And it's terrible. -Uncle Josh

Say what you want about the tenets of National Socialism, but we can say with absolute certainty that the Germans would NEVER have allowed 3rd world migrants to loot and burn down Paris when they occupied France.

If you can't still hear car engines 3 days after the checkered flag you are not a real race fan.
Y’all won’t like this but having attended a Grand Prix recently it’s nice not having hearing loss after a race

My friend's dad works at the Bot Farm. He got called in for an emergency meeting today. Came back late and wouldn't explain anything. Just told us to pack our things and go stock up on two weeks' worth of food. We're driving somewhere far outside the city now. I don't know what's going on, but I have a feeling it's begun…

Does Orthodoxy have anything comparable or similar to Calvinist Covenant Theology? I don't suppose so but this is an interesting topic to me. Perhaps @blessedmikko @BrotherAugusti2 or @HosannaHosannaa or anybody else have some insights or can point me in the right direction?

Very interesting and fun to imagine "what if", however it would all just be rearranging chairs on the Titanic once the Jacobite Wars failed to restore the rightful King to the throne of England (who was replaced in the coup of 1688).
Canada should have been established as a unitary state like Britain or France, governed by a single national parliament and headed by its own king from a cadet branch of the Royal Family, as Sir John A. Macdonald envisioned for the Kingdom of Canada rather than the Dominion. Alberta, Saskatchewan and maybe Manitoba should have formed a single administrative region, while the Maritimes and Newfoundland should have constituted another. British Columbia was meant to stretch from the Yukon to Oregon. The Western provinces should never have been settled by continental European immigrants. At the same time, their populations should have been deliberately expanded to strengthen the country’s demographic, economic, political, and cultural balance. Greater Montreal should have been established as its own province and made the national capital, with the king marrying into one of Quebec’s old seigneurial families and ruling from Montreal as a semi constitutional monarch. It could have embodied a distinctly Canadian synthesis of inherited tradition and modern statecraft. A Canadian House of Lords, drawn initially from the landed aristocracy of Ontario’s Family Compact, Quebec’s seigneurial families, and the established noble and patrician families of the Maritimes, should have replaced the House of Commons as the central legislative chamber. As the West developed, its own landed gentry should have been incorporated into the chamber, gradually extending the aristocratic order across the country while preserving its roots in Canada’s older governing classes and colonial inheritance. Our failure to fully anchor and unify Canadian national identity around the Quebec Windsor Corridor has set the country back by decades. That corridor contains the demographic weight, historic institutions, economic power, and cultural inheritance necessary to serve as the permanent centre of Canadian national life.

It’s true, Anglo— “Christianity” has noticeably morphed into mere middle class values & improvement project. Religion in 21st century America has become an enclave for people who have done everything 'right.' They have college degrees and marriages and children and tidy middle-class incomes. Religion has become a luxury good (most churchgoers in Anglo-nations are middle class & higher with very few working class populations), and that’s leaving most of society on the fringes, yet again.
I think Orthodox parishes can do a better job acknowledging the elusiveness of the so-called "American dream" and that lots of parishioners will probably not be able to just "work hard" and have a "nice life" in a secular sense. As Orthodox Christians, our job is to struggle to fulfill Christ's commandments (using all of our being for service of God and our neighbor) and find a good Christian ending. When Catechumens ask for Baptism they must absolutely know that they aren't just asking for a nice "based/trad" wholesome chungus rightard life.

Say what you want about this, poor punctuation aside, but evidence is that 75% of my people were killed or displaced during the Harrying of the North and I'd be willing to bet Judith and others like her they have no idea what I'm referring to. So there.
I challenge every person on this platform asking for proof of what happened at residential schools to.take a couple.of hours and read the Final Report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. THEN come.on here and give your opinion. Otherwise stop talking. Evidence is there

Step 1: I will not submit to and reflect back to you or anybody else your worldview. Step 2: The fact that you are attempting to make others do this, I consider a huge character flaw that correlates to an abusive person. Step 3: Your worldview will not cleanse you of your sin
Replying to @epkaufm
What exactly is “woke” about remembering the tragedies of residential schools? Take us through this, step by step.

Step 3: cont'd: your religious ideology will not offer you salvation. Even if every person in this country reflected back to you, your worldview, it would not grant you salvation.
