Imagine selling SpaceX in 2009 because Falcon 9 was three years behind schedule.
I believe selling Rocket Lab over Neutron delays will be a mistake of the same magnitude.

Rocket Lab's bar for a first flight is pretty simple:
"I don't believe in the, 'We'll collect good data today, but it blew up just off the pad or halfway up.' That's not success for us. Success is reaching orbit.
It's not common for a new vehicle architecture to reach orbit in the first flight, but that is certainly our objective.
You won't see us minimizing some qualifier about us just clearing the pad and claiming success.”

I really can't wait for Rocket Lab's 2027.
Neutron's first launch + the Iridium acquisition closing + whatever other exciting stuff they're cooking up = a very exciting year for investors.
And I doubt the stock price will ignore all these positive catalysts either..

I compiled the latest Rocket Lab analyst price targets following the Neutron delay.
Some firms have trimmed their targets, but every single one still implies upside from the current share price, ranging from +32% to +160%.
I know what I'll be doing next :)

A Simple Rocket Lab Ballpark Model
Iridium just reported earnings. 98 cents a share and 245M in revenue. Just add that to expectations for RKLB's 3Q announcement: ~260M revenue and -.07 cents a share.

Comment/petition deadline (Oct 15) produced three notable filings:
• Hampton Roads Chamber: “we are writing to share our support for Rocket Lab’s acquisition of Iridium Communications and to encourage the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to grant rapid approval for this acquisition”
• SpaceX: “Iridium’s demand for veto power over its competitors’ use of critical, shared Ka-band spectrum reinforces serious concerns as to whether its proposed transaction with Rocket Lab is in the public interest.” (Notes Iridium withdrew its 116 petitions to block SpaceX backhaul; does not oppose the deal.)
• Ligado: Cites SpaceX that “Iridium exploits Commission procedure to deny or delay its competitors from providing better service to millions of American consumers, businesses, and first responders,” and says it has experienced the same tactics. Asks whether the application would “frustrate rather than advance competition for Mobile Satellite Service (MSS) offerings.”

As a longtime $RKLB shareholder, I really don’t mind if Neutron’s inaugural launch gets delayed another 6 months.
I actually really like the shift in narrative they’ve adopted from having heavy emphasis on getting Neutron to the pad, to “let’s ensure we can smoothly and efficiently get 10 Neutrons to the pad.”
If a 6-month delay means that the 9 Neutron launches that follow occur with less wait time and better operational efficiency, I’m good with that.
Don't think Neutron can get to the launch pad by EOY
Base case now looks like the rocket on the launchpad in Q1 2027 and a launch somewhere in summer.

ALT I purchased a day or two after it was on the market. I trimmed then purchased drops a few times, trimmed and just kept it a few times. Someday, ideally, I will sell for life and call it enough.
