Good rule of thumb, in this day and age for movies and games you simply need to check them out yourself. There is too much forced hate, spins, twists, and hate watching/playing simply to nitpick something that is non-existent with overly political goggles for engagement. Don't blindly follow, make your own opinion from your own experience.

Onimusha… what to say… In my humble opinion, it’s at best an 8/10 overall. Could be persuaded to 8.5. 🤔 Having played on PC (5090) on Action on a first playthrough… Lacking graphical options on PC that were in previous Capcom releases in 2026. Mostly grey and flat in a lot of areas. I’d say visually, @CapcomUSA_ did better in Pragmata and Requiem. The lack of an FOV slider is always an odd choice. Tying parry and dodge windows to FPS was a choice too. Challenging and satisfying boss fights. The main bosses are the highlight, but the mini-bosses are extremely overused to the point of just being annoying. The standard enemies were just reskinned later on. You could also just run past encounters late game, as they really didn’t serve a point in engaging at times. The story was basic and, for me, wasn’t really engaging until the latter half of the game, but it didn’t really make me care much beyond Musashi. Would have liked to tone down the backseating from Shizuka (voice in the gauntlet). Side stuff definitely felt like filler and tacked on, and only some of the errands were worth it for charms. Outside of cosmetics and trophies, the rest were pointless. Rifts and plants were just boring missions to pad out areas. Outside of parry/deflect, dodge, and Issen, it was mostly spam light and heavy attacks. Would have liked some combos or varied movesets to learn or unlock. For anyone looking at it, the 85–86 Metascore is a fairly accurate number IMO. I think the high praise is partially due to a lack of quality output in general. I also think it’s possible Phantom Blade Zero may derail the @OnimushaGame train some. Verdict is clearly still out on that one… obviously. I liked the game, just not a 10/10 “masterpiece”, an extremely overused label today.
