Picked some Bramley apples after dark & now they are bubbling away in a beetroot & ginger chutney. Made with dark muscovado sugar, malt vinegar, juice & zest of a lemon & a lemon drop chilli. 馃構
Little Red enjoying his supper before flying up into the tree at dusk. Unlike all my other chickens, for years now he has refused to go into a coop & prefers roosting high up in the branches with the guineas, irrespective of the weather. He is quite a character
Autumn leaves: the pear trees are turning shades of yellow, burnt orange, dark red & a browny purple. 馃崅
Sunset sky. Winds dropping & a cool night ahead. A barn owl out hunting over the pasture - the sheep completely ignored it
Today's gusty winds (much worse than Friday) tested my cheap polytunnel replacement cover which is too short to anchor properly. A few climbing ropes to the rescue, secured to the original ground anchors. Doesn't look pretty but I haven't lost it either!
The advantage of heavy overnight rain is the tracks left behind in the mud from the creatures out after dark....

Back to our pic archive for summer #roses.
It鈥檚 A Whiter Shade of Pale. Hybrid tea #rose plentiful, fragrant blooms & excellent disease resistance.
#StormBoelo making its presence felt for many of us, take care everyone, hope your homes, gardens & animals are safe.

Another soggy day viewed through water drops on the tiny crab apples of Malus transitoria 'Thornhayes Tansy'.

It is wet & miserbale here in our part of the world this #SaturdayMorning but I find that I am consoled by the view through the window of "Interior" by Brynhild Parker from 1930: it raises one's spirits, which is good on a day like this! #BrynhildParker #EastLondonGroup
Storm blowing itself out as the moon hid behind fast moving clouds. None of the animals liked the wind & won't be pleased with more of the same tomorrow. A barn owl perched in the shelter of the hedge looking ghostly in the moonlight before heading off to hunt across the meadow
My only non-food purchase at the farm shop - a ceramic ghost which will look great with a tea light. I adore the misty somewhat ethereal time between Hallowe'en & Guy Fawkes Day, when the shadows seem unduly menacing & the landscape feels on edge. This will fit right in 馃暞
A quick trip to the farm shop this morning for a few big bunches of beetroot, some cheap cuts of meat (pig cheeks, pork belly, bacon chops) & some uchiki kuri winter squash/pumpkins as they are my favourite & my plants got eaten. Some olive & rosemary flat bread for lunch too 馃構
Sunset sky with the geese milling about getting ready to go to bed. Muddy underfoot for the first time since spring.
