Congratulations to @ric_thorpe on his election as Archbishop of Melbourne. For decades, Ric has been a driving force behind church growth in London. Since his time leading the transformation of St Paul’s Shadwell, parishes across @dioceseoflondon have benefited from his strategic drive and energy - as has the wider Church of England in his national role as Bishop of Islington in recent years.
We have so much to thank Ric for. He will be missed here, and he and Louie will leave for Melbourne with our prayers and deepest gratitude.

This film lasts only 4 minutes and it won an Oscar ...
Intense, but it conveys tremendous reality, empathy and putting ourselves in other people's shoes ...
Knowing how to recognize your mistakes and knowing that others also have their problems and empathizing is precious ...

We were able to celebrate Christmas in Bethlehem. Anglicans from Jerusalem and the West Bank worshipped in the Basilica of the Nativity on Christmas Eve. We sang carols defiantly in the face of the darkness surrounding us in Gaza and the WB. The streets were empty and we grieve.

Can’t help thinking of the ordinary people - the Israeli families cruelly bereaved, the Palestinians who will suffer as the infrastructure of Gaza is destroyed again. Can’t see anyone winning here.

There is no justification for any province of the Anglican Communion to support the criminalisation of LGBTQ people: not in our resolutions, our teachings, or the Gospel we share.

Watching commercial tv tonight, and struck by #registeredclubs and #gambling ads stressing how they support the community. Wondering how they support families destroyed by #gamblingaddiction ? #gamblingreforms #AirbagsOnPokies #cashlesscards
