Record companies exist to put out recorded music… if you have an active audience, regardless of size, there’s a possibility to make that audience bigger. No part of this is easy… and it’s not for the faint of heart… #neXt2rock @Next2Rock

This depends on the artist and if the vision is true to the artist’s peer group. For artists of any age, the label’s question is going to be, “who is your audience and can you activate them?” #neXt2rock @Next2Rock

Now more than ever, artists engaging socially with fans is a must. Even the most talented artists, if they don’t know how to have a real social conversation, they are at a real disadvantage. #neXt2rock @Next2Rock

Lay out your vision and expectations in the first meeting - like any intimate relationship - don’t hold back… no surprises… If somebody comes across as lazy, they probably are… don’t settle! @Next2Rock

If you’re reaching out to other musicians there’s likely already something that you’re attracted to or why reach out to them? There must already be some vision of how a musician might fit into your band vision. #neXt2rock

Don’t come to your manager, record co, etc, and say, “I don’t listen to other people’s music” and then expect to understand when your music isn’t working. @Next2Rock #neXt2rock

Staying plugged into your surroundings and culture is critical. If you want to be played on the radio, be added to streaming playlists, etc, then pay attention to what music is being played and what fans are running toward…
