Simple Pitching.
A lot of D1 freshmen pitchers will figure it out.
It's not because of velocity.
Control
Command
Secondary Pitches
Holding Runners
Fielding Position
Moxie
Feel
A lot were sold an illusion and they believed it.
They thought if they threw hard enough they could pitch in D1 baseball.
Someone forgot to tell them about the other things they would be required to do to get innings.
Velocity will get you an opportunity but the other things will get you on the mound in games.
Average velocity combined with plus control, above average command, plus secondary pitch, average third pitch, the ability to hold runners and field position gets the pitcher on the field in games at any school in the country.
If he is a competitor with moxie and feel.
I tweet a lot about control and command.
It's really important.
But don't misunderstand what I'm saying.
You still have to have velocity.
Colleges aren't looking for dudes with below average stuff and above average command.
Because those guys get torched.
You have to have at least average velocity for the level you want to be considered.
Average velocity with plus off speed and command can pitch for college world series caliber teams.
Some even pitch their way to the big leagues.

Had this conversation with a high school right handed pitcher.
He asked what he would have to do to sign with a P5 out of high school and have a chance to pitch as a freshman.
Option A
Pitch 90-95 (not touch, but actually pitch 90-95). Throw close to 70% strikes. A plus secondary pitch thrown for strikes with command. An average third pitch thrown for strikes with command. Be able to control the running game and field position. Those things would also make option A, a very good draft prospect. Players that are deciding between signing a pro contract and attending school are the players that have the highest percent chance to actually pitch as a freshman.
Or
Option B
Pitch upper 8's with plus control, plus command, plus moxie, plus feel and an uncanny knack to add and subtract. Control the running game and field position.
Option A and Option B
Should absolutely dominate high school and travel ball competition. P5 schools are recruiting experienced mid major and non P5 D1 pitchers out of the portal. They're also recruiting the best of the best juco pitchers. They don't need or want freshman development projects.

The players are being disrespected.
Morning baseball fans,
The Seattle Mariners have hired Jason Kanzler, a guy who has NEVER managed a professional baseball game at any level. Not Rookie ball, not A-ball, not Double-A, not Triple-A. NOTHING!
And I’ll tell you exactly why I believe Jerry Dipoto hired him. CONTROL!
The lineup, starting rotation, bullpen usage, pitch counts, everything will be dictated from the front-office suite. The manager will be given his marching orders, including how many pitches a starter can throw and how much flexibility he has.
Kanzler gets a nice big-league paycheck to say YES to Jerry Dipoto. That’s what this looks like to me. A yes man who will bend over backward to keep the boss happy.
And the saddest part? This is what Major League Baseball has become. Managers aren’t being hired to manage. They’re being hired to carry out organizational orders.
So sad to see what we’ve done to this great game.

When the most talented player on the team is the most reliable and dependable.
Championship culture is attainable.
Your least talented player will magnify the strengths of your culture.
Your most talented player will expose the weaknesses of your culture.
Get It?
Real baseball folks will understand this.
Real players want the unfiltered truth all the time.
and
They do not need glitz glamour or vanity to run through the wall.
Ask a coach which player on his team he would want to hire as a future assistant or administrator.
His answer will rarely be the most talented player on the team.
Pitchers-want to throw 90? Be able to long toss 300 ft!
Want to throw 97? 360 ft is the goal.
"Bingo 👍. In 30 years of doing it, you can pretty much take it to the bank - 300 feet = 90mph (of course body types, age, dna matter too, but man, that’s been really consistent)" Alan Jaeger

The overwhelming majority of players belong in junior colleges for an array of reasons.
Couple of things on this:
1. Every year I hear Juco is down, well that’s a lot of MLB players 💪
2. 9 FL Jucos had multiple MLB players…That’s why people think our region is good 🤷♂️
3. High school kids & their parents, no you aren’t too good to play Juco
4. Go #Bucs ⚔️🟣🏴☠️
