Players and parents please pay attention to this.
Simple Hitting
Hitters
What is a productive at bat?
I'll give you a hint.
It either produces a base runner (you) without an out.
or
It moves a runner.
or
It scores a runner.
or
It drives pitch counts.
Yes, you can have a selfish so called quality at bat by definition and it can be non productive.
Productive at bats win games.
Check your ego at the door and be productive for your team.
Mature hitters win games.
Thank You Greg Golson.
Genuine respect and admiration for your career and willingness to share your knowledge.
Every baseballer and their parents should be following Greg for real credible information from someone that played in the big leagues.
Really recommend this account for a follow. If you're a baseballer, you're probably already following @nextlevelbb. But make sure you are following if you're not. Great perspective on the game.
A lot of MLB player development directors could not effectively organize and instruct a college practice.
Whenever the press release mentions a certification you know the players are laughing.
The very best hitting instruction in the world teaches hitters how to adjust to counts and situations.
Strike throwing competitive lefthander that can make an impact for a lot of junior colleges.
Winning makeup and extraordinary teammate.
Great decision by Mississippi Valley State.
Jackson is the right kid who is trending up with a professional baseball ceiling.
Projectable athletic lefthanders that can be two way players are not easy to find.

Basic Recruiting Facts
Potential recruits and their parents need to understand something loud and clear.
College coaches want the oldest and most experienced players they can find.
The majority of portal players are either proven or had the entitlement and immaturity knocked out of them.
The player that gets to play is usually happier than the player that sits on the bench.
Get good advice and go where you are wanted and most importantly needed.
I have always been a proponent of kids playing multiple sports.
I still am until kids get to high school.
In the portal and NIL era kids better specialize and they better be great at the sport that has the best chance to deliver the scholarship and NIL money.
Baseball is now a three season sport with a year round strength and conditioning commitment.

College coaches that show genuine interest in a player and then ghost the player without explanation are clowns.
Be honest and tell the player exactly why you are no longer interested.
They deserve the unfiltered truth.
What exactly is scouting?
It is the pursuit of getting the player evaluation right which includes future roles and estimated productivity.
The majority of getting the player right is getting the makeup and work ethic right.
and
Most importantly the competitiveness.
Organizations are not missing on players because of the exit velocity or launch angle or spin rate or anything measurable with a machine or video camera.
They are missing because of the things that require experience and feel to evaluate.
Cameron Maybin absolute gold.
DAMN! Who knew little old me and my opinion would have all y’all this STIRRED UP?!
Some of y’all heard the word ANALYTICS and completely MISSED MY WHOLE DAMN POINT!
I’m talking about REAL BALLPLAYERS! DOGS! GRINDERS! Dudes who will fight through 12-pitch at-bats, move runners, lay down a bunt, run the bases, make plays, and do the dirty work EVERY SINGLE NIGHT! Guys who COMPETE THEIR ASSES OFF!
I spent a few years around Pat Murphy. Sat in his office, had plenty of personal conversations, and heard firsthand what that man preached!
“PLAY LIKE A NEANDERTHAL!”
Now let me ask y’all something…
YOU THINK NEANDERTHALS KNEW WHAT ANALYTICS WERE?! OR WERE THEY JUST OUT THERE TRYING TO COMPETE, SURVIVE, AND WIN NO MATTER WHAT?!
THAT’S MY WHOLE DAMN POINT!
I never said the Brewers and Rays don’t use analytics. I’m saying I see two organizations that value OLD-SCHOOL BALLPLAYERS! Complete players who know how to WIN, even when it ain’t pretty!
Y’all call it analytics. I call it GETTING BACK TO THE GAME I GREW UP LOVING! BASEBALL! SIMPLE AS THAT!
And yeah, let me be a LITTLE PETTY before I go!
Respectfully, I’m not letting people who have NEVER stepped between those lines convince me otherwise just because you went to a really FANCY SCHMANCY COLLEGE 🤣and know how to read a spreadsheet!
I respect education. I respect analytics. But being book smart doesn’t automatically mean you understand what it takes to COMPETE AND WIN between those lines!
I played 15 YEARS in the BIG LEAGUES! I’ve been around some of the greatest baseball minds in the world. That doesn’t mean I know everything, but I’ve earned the right to have my own perspective on this game!
LOVE THE DEBATE! RESPECT EVERYBODY’S OPINION! BUT I’M STANDING TEN TOES DOWN ON MINE!
