Good news out of @Harvard University! I cannot even remember the last time that happened. Maybe, just maybe, this course marks a turning point, where professors unapologetically teach the best the humanities have to offer? wsj.com/lifestyle/harvard-cl…

This matches the info I’m getting from insiders (but theirs is on EV not a poll) the upstate is not supporting Graham.
According to NYT/Siena, the historic Greenville/Spartanburg LOATHING of the Grahams is bleeding into the general election this year. Andrews running a whopping 19% AHEAD of party ID there, vs 4% ahead everywhere else.

Talked to SC political activist this week, there is huge concern in Republican Party that Graham is going to lose. I put the race in Andrews Favor just over 50/50
NYT/Siena poll | 10/19-10/26 LV US Senate South Carolina 2026 🟦Annie Andrews 48% 🟥Darline Graham 48% (incumbent) Link to poll: nytimes.com/2026/10/28/upsho…

Tomorrow we're releasing a full UATX course for free: all 19 lectures of Professor Isabella Reinhardt's Rise and Fall of Ancient Rome, filmed in class with our students. It runs from Rome's mythical founding to the Third Century Crisis. It ends on a question the class spent a whole session arguing about: did Rome ever really fall?

Each congress requires leadership. Doing this in the lame duck is interesting as it prevents any freshman from having a say! It also indicates a view of becoming the minority

I agree that more INDEPENDENT "Protestant" churches will do this. It is hard to identify exactly why, but I think there are some significant sources: Here are my ideas 1/6
I believe we are going to see more and more Protestant churches affirm polygamy. It's actually not a huge step once you adopt the sort of hyper-literal Biblicism that's already the de facto approac in that world. It won't be the mainstream view, but could get traction.

Fourth, PORN! Sexual desire is a dominant desire of this life, and men have been able to indulge in it with very little earthly consequence. Once deep into it, the sexual appetite will seek any post-hoc justification for its desires 5/6

Fifth, lack of ecclesiastical accountability. This will be independent Protestant churches is because error and heresy is corrected through ecclesiastical systems and structures. We see numerous people removed from churches starting their own to focus on their pet goal. 6/6

Was reading Luther "On Secular Authority" yesterday in my Political Theology class. I am reminded that the fundamental divergence in Christian Political Thought is on two questions: Pre or Post-lapsarian origin of the sword and intrinsic vs instrumental "good" of government.

This is why, any serious work on political theology has to address scripture interpretation as well as philosophical tradition.

Rumplestiltskin has you beat! Honestly though, this is probably closer to Bacons utopian vision in the New Atlantis.
Replying to @MarathonFusion
In 2025, we published a bold proposal to use fusion reactors for gold production. And now we’ve done it: Mercury transmuted into stable gold, using fusion neutrons, at 10x the record set by CERN in 2025. We’ve reduced alchemy to a series of difficult but tractable engineering problems.

I find it odd, that in the past few weeks two major stories on sexuality of leaders (Elisabeth Elliot and Lindsey Graham) arise postmortem; almost as if any response would show holes in the narrative.
I have no idea if Lindsey Graham hired gay prostitutes, but I do know it's incredibly lame to release these allegations only after he can no longer defend himself. Cowardly. What is even the point of this?

I am not saying the accusations against Graham are false (and having worked for a closeted Republican congressman I have seen it in action) but…
