When we're citing these numbers, keep in mind AI capex is really a *demand-side* contributor to GDP. Much of it is imported, but it's still a form of risk-taking sitting on US balance sheets. Now contributing 1.3% on an annual basis... real GDP growth is just 2.1%

So many bad takes coming today that AI-related investment is driving the economy. The vast majority of the value invested is from placing high-cost imported goods which means it's not a support to GDP growth. Basic GDP accounting folks.
