ALT Weather: Was very hot Thurs, but pretty good otherwise. Fri seemed nice but was actually sneakily hot, almost sidelining me late in the day. Sat and Sun mornings were actually cold, but Sat did get pretty warm, and Sun ended up really nice. No rain while I was on the bike, which was a plus! It did storm Thurs night, sprinkled a little Sat afternoon, and is raining on the way home on the bus, but that's fine and I'll take it.

ALT The ride itself: I have mixed feelings. My goal three years ago when I initially signed up was to participate for one year and ride (as much as I could) from Cleveland to Cincinnati and to raise some money doing so. Unfortunately that was 2020 and the ride became virtual, so I did my normal riding in my area, until I broke my shoulder that is and finished on an exercise bike. That years registration fee was pushed to 2021, so I was riding a second year. But unfortunately it still wasn't the cross state ride, but rather "cloverleaf" style starting and ending each day at the same location. As I started that year I added a secondary goal: completing an entire day of the ride without ending early or skipping segments. It almost happened on the fourth day that year, but a flat tire forced me to skip ahead some, and that goal also remained unrealized.

ALT Almost forgot! The Future: Will I do this ride again? Most likely not. It's a lot to properly train for that I just don't have the time to do. IF, and that's a very big IF, but IF I were to do it again, I would most likely do only one or two days and not all four. That third day has been trouble for me both times I've attempted this, while days one, two, and four go fine. But I still probably won't. It's tough, grueling, and emotional. I'm spent, physically drained and mentally drained. I like biking so much because it allows me to get away from life for a little bit and just relax with my thoughts. But the reasoning behind this ride, and riding alone that long, brings up a lot of memories that are tough to handle while riding, and I just know that I could do it again. I've completed my goals, so I may just leave this experience in the past.
