Now you can't tell me I'm a man without a plan.
The LEE AND CALL series is set in the Bay Area of California, following the contentious friendship between a pub owner and the badman-with-a-heart who ripped him off.

The Devils reminds me of how special the 70s are in American film history. After the Hays Code, but before the modern franchise blockbuster. Such a sweet spot of experimentation and creativity

Shameless self-promotion Sunday! Available at the Zon.
“Bright as day in its depiction of humanity, and even darker than a starless night in its depiction of the same. Carlotta Dale’s prose is refreshing. Intriguing, haunting, dryly humorous, and down to the emotional bone.”

The Lean Man with Clean Hands is a crime novel about a thief who believes violence is justified by necessity--never by what someone deserves--and a grieving pub owner increasingly seduced by the power of violence.
(Not the final cover, just a placeholder.)
The problem with writing scumbag protagonists is that some people will just go ahead and assume that the reader is meant to agree with what they think - and by extension, the author does too. 🙄

Tried watching "Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction" thinking it was an Unsolved Mysteries kinda thing... it isn't.
Each week Jonathan Frakes tells you 5 ghost stories, 2 are "false" (invented by a writer), the rest are "true" (invented by an unpaid writer). The true ones aren't backed up by proof, you are just expected to believe a ghost walked someone's dog or a sandwich predicted a drowning.
10/10

They drove all the way out to the Dave & Busters in Milpitas. What a place—Chuck E. Cheese with alcohol and shitty steak. Whoever dreamed such a thing deserved their generational wealth.
