We can't carry on as we are.
Politics as usual has taken Britain backwards, and more of the same won't get us where we need to be.
Today, I'll set out a different path for our country.
That means having an honest conversation about the things we've ignored for too long, from fixing social care and tackling youth unemployment to giving people more control over energy, water and housing.
Hope comes from honesty.
It comes from saying the things politicians usually avoid, being straight about the challenges we face, and having the courage to fix them.
That's exactly what I will do.

Sad news for our Liverpool's pub architectural heritage. As many of you have likely heard, a section of the magnificent, ornate ceiling in The Vines on Lime Street has collapsed.
Thankfully, it sounds like no one was seriously injured, though it must have been a massive shock for everyone enjoying a quiet pint in the lounge! The pub’s management suspects water ingress might be to blame, and they are currently investigating whilst securing the area.
It’s heartbreaking to see damage to such a stunning piece of Victorian craftsmanship. Let’s hope the restoration is swift and sympathetic to the original plasterwork. Fortunately, the majority of the pub remains open.

We've been getting a lot of questions lately about how the Internet Archive digitizes books.
The short answer: page by page, by hand.
You may remember our viral 2021 video of Eliza Zhang scanning a book. That's still how we do it.

This absolute gem at 102 Wavertree High Street is officially the last surviving Georgian bowed shop window in Liverpool! Built way back in 1796, those beautiful curved windows were originally designed to catch the natural light and show off goods to passersby.
Over the centuries, this Grade II listed building has been a cobbler, a saddler, and a "boot dealer". Today, the striking green facade is home to Ray Jones' World of Wood Turning, a master craftsman who lovingly restored the shopfront back in the 1980s.

Cracking view over Liverpool Bay! 🌅 The crew on that vessel had a front row seat to a spectacular sunset.
When I zoomed right in on the horizon (see the second image), I spotted a distinct structure sitting just above the waterline, right in the sun's glare.
It looks like it could be one of the offshore gas platforms, but it's hard to tell through the atmospheric haze. Does anyone recognise exactly which platform this is? Or are we just looking at a coastal mirage? Let me know your best guess in the comments 👇
Goodnight folks.
