When we moved to SC in 2020 we bought a 395k house in a gated sub-development in larger neighborhood.
Halloween behind those gates was picture perfect.
Children trick or treating with just their friends.
Bowls left on doorsteps that still had candy in them when you returned home.
Adults calling out neighborhood kids acting inappropriate.
Residents flexed by giving out king size candy and legit toys.
All made possible because unlike the un-gated portion, we didn’t receive the non-resident drive ins.
The kids all knew if they were caught misbehaving on the ring cam, or by an adult, their parents were going to find out.
There is a rapidly growing market for gated middle class homes.
If I sold gates and fences I’d be creating proposals to retrofit communities and dropping them off Nov 1 at every neighborhood overwhelmed on Halloween.
The ROI isn’t only in protecting your community, but overall home value. The homes behind that gate weren’t any different than the homes outside the gate, however, they are appraised 10 higher. Expect that percentage to dramatically increase.
It’s good to want to protect your community, and hold events exclusive to your neighbors, just as it’s good to protect your family, and have events exclusive to relatives.

If you listen carefully it’s a misplaced anger at his own parents for not making him feel worthy that turned into raging jealousy of other children who had parents that lifted them up and poured into them. He’s projected all of that onto white people. He needs to mend his heart before thinking about running for any office. White ppl haven’t hurt him. He knows exactly who did. Notice how he doesn’t get the satisfaction he was craving when the interviewer simply anchors himself & doesn’t validate that experience. We should all do more of this. Don’t validate anyone’s experience for the sake of temporary bonding.

After reading the sign saying the homeowners weren’t home and inviting visitors to take just one piece of candy, they decided to steal all the Halloween candy. And one of them actually pissed himself on the patio.

So basically, once again, EVERYONE in the family was trying to help.... And yet again, the "mother" refuses, blames the Father who is ONLY trying to make sure his kids are safe and YET AGAIN the highly prejudicial and extremely biased "legal system" is programmed to "believe all women" no matter how batshit crazy they obviously are.... 🚨#BREAKING: Two TODDLERS have STARVED TO DE*TH in South Carolina, the MOTHER has been arrested for "not giving them food or water"...
She was allegedly suffering from "postpartum depression" and was discussing Lindsay Clancy.
The FATHER was ARRESTED for "harassment" for attempting to SEE his daughters.
Yes, you read that right.
Their mother, 31-year-old Justine Marie May, is charged with two counts of homicide by child abuse.
According to the affidavit, she told detectives she'd been in a "blur" for two weeks and couldn't remember the last time she gave her daughters food or water.
Emory was 2 and a half. Harlow was the baby.
May was a preschool teacher.
Teacher of the Month, 2019 with a room full of 2-year-olds.
Then, this summer, her family says "something broke in her"
Her family says she was "normal for over 30 years." In late July she left the girls' father.
By mid-August she'd cut off her mother.
By August 23rd, the dad.
He never saw his daughters again.
The grandmother banged on the door.
May's response: "Showing up banging at my door is not okay."
She complained police had been to the house "way too many times." She said police were "on my side."
On September 4th, the grandmother sent a long email, according to the family.
She named a "countdown on the wall in crayon." She wrote that she was afraid this "could lead to you harming the girls and/or yourself."
She begged to take the children.
May's answer: "Don't question my motherhood again."
September 11th, police came out again.
May texted her mom: "Good try with the police."
Then blocked her.
That SAME DAY, the girls' father was arrested. Second-degree harassment.
May asked for a no-contact order and a judge GAVE her one.
The man trying to see his kids got HANDCUFFS.
The woman with a countdown on the wall got a court order PROTECTING her.
September 13th, the grandmother on the dad's side posted publicly: "I'm begging you to get help, before you harm your babies."
May's own brother: "We need to get Justine help... I beg of you!!!"
September 14th, a welfare check.
Police told the dad the kids were okay.
Fifteen days later they were de*d.
...AND IT GETS WORSE.
The family says DSS had an open case for about a MONTH.
The family says they were warned they could be ARRESTED FOR HARASSMENT if they kept requesting welfare checks.
The electricity was shut off.
A bank notice was on the door.
The trash was overflowing.
The sheriff's own affidavit admits deputies had been to that house on prior welfare checks. They knew exactly who lived there. They knew two toddlers were inside.
Monday, the grandmother emailed the chief of police. One more plea.
Tuesday, 1:13 p.m., officers pulled up to Pinewood Drive.
1:30 p.m., the chief emailed her back.
By then deputies were already inside.
Sadly, Emory and Harlow were "beyond the point at which lifesaving measures could be performed."
They are no longer living.
The affidavit says investigators allege May's failure to provide "adequate food and fluids" contributed to both de*ths, and May herself told them she believed they passed away because they hadn't eaten.
