Example from this morning. See how the "R" in the link looks? At first glance, these can be deceiving, so slow down and stay safe!
Always check the contract and official sites and social profiles. Every day new impersonators pop up, and sometimes the profiles look legit at first glance. Here's one targeting @artblocks_io
Here's why you need to be careful. Spammers target legit high-profile collections like @doodles and create convincing fake accounts with thousands of followers, even minting a PFP avatar! Check out this one with capital i's in the handle stylized to look like the L's in Doodles.

Web3 can be a spooky place if you're just getting started. 😱 Check out our guide here to the most common scams and how to avoid them. Treats not Tricks! 🎃 notcommon.com/articles/top-1…
Make sure to ALWAYS check the link. Scammers will create an account that at first glance appears correct, get significant followers, and even post a legit link sometimes in their profile and then tweet a link to the scam site. Stay safe!

Many scams will offer "free" airdrops to get you to act quickly, but it is always best to slow down and be careful. This fake account (notice the two L's in the Twitter handle 🙄) is using it to lure people to an impersonating website (again, two Ls in the URL). Stay safe and GM!

Watch out for the CryptoNPunks (with an N). It never ends! Stay vigilant.

Another common scam is to mimic social media accounts. For example, look at this account impersonating @yugalabs with a capital I in place of the L in the handle. Be careful, even if an account looks polished and has many followers!
In addition to fake projects, you also have to be on the lookout for fake influencers, many of whom are minting NFTs for avatars and going to great lengths to impersonate influencers, like this example targeting followers of @farokh Stay safe out there!
