There we have it. Afriforum is set to receive about R18 million from the US State Department to “document hateful rhetoric and violent acts” against Afrikaners and other minority populations in the country, according to a @propublica investigation.

Alpha is one of the best journalists in our country. A young man who is passionate about his craft and is an absolute star. You can disagree with his question but calling him “useless”, “stupid” is wrong.
I was disappointed on the useless question, narrative being implanted and insinuation by the journalist....poor tools of analysis......with wrong conclusions.....the young man is going to be amongst the most useless journalist shem......

…you might not see race, they do. in july, the public protector found that the DA deliberately prioritised white areas over black communities in terms of service delivery.
Guys we no longer vote based on race, we need services from those we vote for. If they don’t deliver we vote them out and vote someone else in. #LGE2026

"Afriforum (which represents maybe) 1.5% of South Africans held extensive discussions with the US." Who gave you that mandate. It is this self importance and belief that a splinter uncivil society group can determine the course of the country that generates such antagonism.
AfriForum holds @PresidencyZA @CyrilRamaphosa and other ANC leaders in government directly responsible for South Africa’s removal from AGOA and the job losses that will result. According to @afriforum, President Ramaphosa and his government’s foreign policy, as well as his announcement on 23 January 2025 that he had signed the Expropriation Act into law, directly prompted President Donald Trump’s announcement just ten days later, on 2 February, that the US would take action against South Africa. AGOA sets explicit requirements for the protection of private property rights and stipulates that beneficiary countries may not undermine US national security or foreign policy interests. As early as April 2024, AfriForum sent a letter to President Ramaphosa warning him of the risks that the Expropriation Act, which allows for expropriation without compensation, posed to South Africa’s trade relations. Ramaphosa did not even respond to the letter, and the country is now reaping the bitter fruits of his and other ANC leaders’ reckless policies and actions. Over the past year, AfriForum, @solidariteit and the Solidarity Movement have put forward comprehensive proposals during discussions with the South African Presidency in an effort to resolve the dispute with the US. Solidarity also held extensive discussions with the US in an attempt to save AGOA. Unfortunately, the Presidency disregarded these efforts, and ordinary South Africans are now paying the price. Ramaphosa and his colleagues in the ANC leadership have placed their own ideology and party interests above the interests of ordinary South Africans. news24.com/business/economy/…

While the US terminates South Africa from AGOA, Beijing is reaping the political benefits. Such an easy propaganda victory for China. And an example of the decline of the US competitive advantage in Africa.
Growing China-SA trade tells a story of Win-Win cooperation: 🔹Trade between China and SA reached nearly $15bn from May to August 2026, an increase of almost 24% year on year. 🔹Over the period, SA exports to China grew by about 25%, outpacing the 23% growth of SA imports from China. 🔹Agricultural exports to China reached $495m, an increase of more than 35% year on year. #ChinaZeroTariff

Weddings too my G. And whats sad is that the value chain gains don't accrue to our demographic.
The cost of death in South Africa is bankrupting the living. Simplify your funerals. You can do it for R50,000. Leave these lavish things.

Trump removes South Africa from a duty-free trade agreement because of a fake "genocide" against white South Africans that only he can see and because South Africa accurately charged Israel with a real genocide in Gaza before the Int'l Court of Justice. trib.al/xSE4rbX

It is regrettable that South African policies led to the termination of AGOA for South Africa. This was a predictable and preventable outcome resulting from the rejection by South Africa's government of real concerns raised by the U.S. Government. I remain hopeful that we can find a path forward to address our larger bilateral concerns, but the South African government must understand the gravity of the situation. We know that if America succeeds, so too will South Africa. This is the partnership I will continue to pursue as expeditiously as possible. ustr.gov/about/policy-office…

President Kagame when US removed Rwanda from AGOA. This is leadership!
The US to exclude Rwanda from AGOA once again. In 2018, the US suspended Rwanda’s preferential trade benefits under AGOA. Why? Because Rwanda stood up for its local textile industry and challenged the importation of second-hand clothes from the US. Rwanda called on fellow East African countries to reduce their reliance on imported second-hand clothing and focus instead on building local manufacturing capacity, creating jobs, and strengthening domestic industries. The US opposed this policy and pressured Rwanda to reverse its position. While other EAC countries bowed to US pressure, Rwanda maintained its stance, arguing that Africa needed to build its own industrial capacity rather than remain dependent on imported used clothing. The consequence was the suspension of Rwanda’s AGOA benefits in 2018. Now, years later, Washington is once again moving toward excluding Rwanda, alongside South Africa, from AGOA. My question: Is AGOA being used purely as a trade development programme, or is access to it increasingly influenced by political and diplomatic considerations?
