Finished and restored. The tagged up "before" pic is in the comments. If you want to see it in person it's at University x Lemon in downtown Riverside.

GM! Caught a life drawing session yesterday afternoon. First time in probably 15-20 years. Always fun, always humbling. Gonna make it a regular part of my practice again.

I made eight videos for my show and have been posting the new art daily on IG. Focusing on social media for about two months, looks like I picked up about 400 IG followers. Don't know if that's good? Seems a bit dismal.
My goal was promo/info for my Sadlands show, second goal was to get more eyes (followers) on my work. 400 for two months or almost daily time and energy put into IG- man, it is really, really hard to pick up new followers!
My most popular video and the one that gained me 150+ followers in two days was "How do I create?". I guess we, as artists, have the most value on social media as teachers and entertainers? Sadly, we have to put on a song and dance (with trending audio) to get eyes on our work.
I also debate if eyes on our work translate into sales or career growth? It can't be a bad thing for more people to experience our art. But seems like 5k devoted followers who want to collect your art is better than 100K random people who skip by your posts.
Those artist accounts with 500K or 1M followers- props to them. They often had meteoric increases in followers over a small time frame- going viral- for some post they made. Some are friends with celebs or had their art posted by famous people, some post sexy pics with their art, some post process vids, some have beautiful curated grid of themselves working.
I think most of the big accounts are selling their lifestyle, their persona. I get it, I don't think that is something new. I tell my students that their persona is a major part of their branding in the arts.
Anyways, just some thoughts on my IG account. I love it and hate it haha!!

You ever consider adding up and coming artists to your portfolio?
There are many deserving pieces from artists on the rise.
Art by @OGKMNDZ (mechanical meets nature) or @loisvoirol (master of surrealism) might deserve your attention
