Petunia first noticed how long Dudley spent in the sitting room.
The portrait had been hung beside the fireplace. Malfoid regarded the household with exquisite composure, her silver frame making everything around it appear faintly inadequate.
Dudley sat beneath her for hours.
When Petunia suggested moving it, he objected with a certainty that disturbed her. A moment later, he admitted that looking at the girl made him feel dreadful.
Looking away was worse.
Then, one afternoon, Vernon found him beneath the stairs.
His son had folded himself onto Harry’s old bed. He was speaking quietly, his eyes lowered, his hands clasped around his knees.
Vernon asked what he was doing.
Dudley continued as though the question had never reached him. The beautiful girl was telling him things. Cruel things. Whenever he thought it was over, something else began.
He could still see it with his eyes shut.
Vernon bent towards the doorway. He wanted to interrupt, to demand a sensible explanation, but his son was struggling with a distinction for which he had no answer: these did not feel like Dudley’s memories.
Why, then, did he seem to remember them?
At last, the mumbling stopped.
“Dad?”
Vernon had always known what to do when Dudley wanted something. He could buy it, arrange it, or find somebody to blame.
He stood outside the cupboard, unable to give his son a single reassuring word.
Behind them, in the sitting room, Miss Malfoy remained beautifully silent.

A reminder to all the Yearners in the Malfoid tag....
While the algorithm does plot against things trending for long times... what you can do to help combat that is remember to interact with the posts you like. I know that it's easy to fall into the habit of just clicking likes and reshares, but this actually doesn't promote the spreading of content beyond a certain reach... and certainly not after they've started throttling the tag.
Leave a comment on art you like or reshare, even if its just simply to say why you like it. Engage in discussions of story snippets and rewrites. Not only does this help with getting content seen more broadly (The algorithm favors engagement), it also bolsters and encourages those creators to keep making content (Yes, egos must be fed).
So, if you like a particular artist or piece of art, remember to engage with it!

Harry sat in the Hogwarts classroom beside Ron when he suddenly noticed Dracaena sitting by the window.
The afternoon sunlight illuminated her long white hair, making it shimmer like silver silk.
Harry: Huh? Hey, Ron, since when does Dracaena have white hair?
Ron: Don't know. Why?
Harry: ...Huh. It really suits her.
Ron: Huh?
Ron turned toward Harry, only to find his friend staring at Dracaena.
Ron: Harry? Mate? Are you listening?
Harry: ...
Ron: Oh, you've got to be kidding me.
Across the classroom, Dracaena noticed Harry looking at her. At first, she smiled proudly, but when she realized he wasn't looking away, her cheeks turned pink.

She tried hiding her face behind her book.
