The Edmonton Oilers have plenty of depth it’s on the IR at the moment. Their AHL/Young talent is actually showing reasonably well despite playing too high up the depth chart. Babcock is coaching well making solid decisions. Consistency and details. Devon Levi is a starting goalie and Anderson is a great wildcard. Jarry is a placeholder. When TF did Captain Jack become the voice of positivity in Oilersnation?

Losing “depth” when 6-7 of your starting players are injured seems normal to me. Am I missing something?

Point. 8-2-2. Still 1st in the West.

Adding an “over and back” rule to overtime has to be the most obvious change this league could make. Watching players skate out of the attacking zone back to their own zone is just horrible hockey.

I think we gotta see if we can exchange Formenton for Mama Stanley

Can’t believe Ike Howard scored a bottom 6 goal. Knoblauch would have sent his ass to the AHL first thing tomorrow for that.

🔥 Hot take 🔥 - Fully agree with Babcock not splitting up McDavid and Draisaitl - yet. The rest of the players said that they wanted *opportunity*. You have an 8-2-1 record you’re gonna make the playoffs and you need to figure out what you have early in the season. Injuries are a huge factor. Nuge and Hyman just came back and haven’t fully found their game. Savoie, Ekholm and Levi mean you’re missing your starter, 1st pairing D and top 6 winger. If you can absorb the losses or stay competitive with this setup - do it. The Oilers can figure out what they have with a lot of these players the only way they’re going to become what they’re supposed to be is the play lots and they need steady lineups to figure it out. Don’t overact to one loss that statically was mostly* goaltending and injuries. (Mostly*) Stay the course and this team will get healthier and better. IMO.

Learned yesterday that every single Toronto Maple Leafs fan is always on standby with at least 3 reasons why they play in the TOUGHEST DIVISION IN HOCKEY. Apparently it’s an excuse and a flex at the same time.

Thanks for the reasons and engagement leafs fans. My point is (proven) you are all obsessed with this as a flex/excuse for anyone that will listen while the rest of the Atlantic just plays hockey.

Even in a 7-2 blowout loss, Leon Draisaitl outscored Auston Matthews 2-1

Vancouver Canucks Fans we have underestimated you. “He’s not signing” is one of the greatest chants ever heard. Incredible work.

Love that the Edmonton Oilers beat the NHLs best Teams like Carolina and Minnesota. But need to beat the leagues weaker teams like Vancouver and Toronto consistently too Need to take these teams as seriously as they take playing the Oilers.

That’s 3 points left on the table against the leagues worst teams, Vancouver and Toronto, that could matter later.

Congrats to the Leafs on getting to play against Tristan Jarry. Quite the victory lap online though for such a medicore performance.

Easy to point at the Edmonton Oilers missing so much of their roster for the loss but they are going to have to learn to consistently beat weaker teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs to be considered true contenders.
