Leadership should open doors, build confidence and create opportunities for others. That is the kind of leadership communities need today. #TBWomenLeadershipAcademy2026 #WhenWomenLeadChangeHappens @Yplus_Global @Leanonmek

Women leaders are not waiting for change. They are learning, organizing, advocating and taking action. Leadership creates momentum for progress. #TBWomenLeadershipAcademy2026 #WhenWomenLeadChangeHappens @Yplus_Global @Leanonmek

Peer learning serves as a core model for cultivating sustainable leadership. Recognizing women as primary sources of expertise allows them to challenge and strengthen each other. @Yplus_Global @CS4MEglobal. #TBWomenLeadershipAcademy2026. #WhenWomenLeadChangeHappens.

The work now moves beyond the Academy. The relationships built here must become channels for mentorship, collaboration, advocacy and collective influence across communities, organizations, national programs and global health spaces. At @Leanonmek, the objective is not to produce isolated leaders. It is to strengthen women who can lead together, influence together and create pathways for more women to follow. @Yplus_Global @GlobalFund @CS4MEglobal @AJWS @TBWomenGlobal @StopTB @realTBpeople @ahfkenya #TBWomenLeadershipAcademy2026 #WhenWomenLeadChangeHappens

Leadership practice also happened in the small moments. Speaking up. Listening differently. Questioning power. Sharing experience. Supporting another woman’s voice. Learning when to lead and when to create space for someone else. These are not secondary skills. They are part of how women build the confidence and judgement required to influence institutions and systems. @Yplus_Global @GlobalFund @CS4MEglobal @AJWS @TBWomenGlobal @StopTB @realTBpeople @ahfkenya #WhenWomenLeadChangeHappens

The group conversations mattered because leadership is not built in isolation. Women were able to test ideas, challenge assumptions, share strategies and learn from experiences different from their own. For us, peer learning is part of leadership development because stronger leaders also need stronger networks around them. @Yplus_Global @GlobalFund @CS4MEglobal @AJWS @TBWomenGlobal @StopTB @realTBpeople @ahfkenya #TBWomenLeadershipAcademy2026 #WhenWomenLeadChangeHappens

At @Leanonmek, we did not convene the #TBWomenLeadershipAcademy2026 simply to bring women together. We convened it to strengthen a leadership constituency: women affected by TB who can carry lived experience, technical knowledge and community priorities into the spaces where programs, policies and resources are shaped. @Yplus_Global @GlobalFund @CS4MEglobal @AJWS @TBWomenGlobal @StopTB @realTBpeople @ahfkenya #TBWomenLeadershipAcademy2026 #WhenWomenLeadChangeHappens

This bridge is exactly where leadership becomes transformative. At @Leanonmek, we believe community experience must travel with women into the rooms where priorities, financing and policy are decided. #TBWomenLeadershipAcademy2026 #WhenWomenLeadChangeHappens
Leadership is strongest when it moves in both directions: upward into institutions and outward into communities. @maureenmurenga, TB Women Global Coordinator, represents that bridge between community experience and the spaces where strategy, financing and policy are shaped. @Yplus_Global @GlobalFund @CS4MEglobal @AJWS @m3rryprayers @Leanonmek #WhenWomenLeadChangeHappens

Perhaps the clearest way to understand @maureenmurenga, @TbWomenGlobal Coordinator’s leadership is through what surrounds her in this photograph: women with different experiences, professions, countries and leadership journeys, increasingly connected by a shared purpose. For us at Lean on Me Foundation, that is the work. Not building one visible leader. Building more women with the confidence, networks and influence to lead where the TB response is shaped. @realTBpeople @Yplus_Global @ajws @StopTB @CS4MEglobal @GlobalFund @ahfkenya #TBWomenLeadershipAcademy2026 #WhenWomenLeadChangeHappens

“Gender-responsive TB leadership cannot stop at empowering individual women. We must also influence the institutions that shape the response and build a wider movement capable of changing the systems around TB.” — @maureenmurenga, @TbWomenGlobal Coordinator That principle sits at the heart of the Leadership Experience. Individual growth matters. But the ambition is larger: women influencing institutions, programs, and systems. @realTBpeople @Yplus_Global @ajws @StopTB @CS4MEglobal @GlobalFund @ahfkenya #TBWomenLeadershipAcademy2026 #WhenWomenLeadChangeHappens

That is why mentorship sits so naturally within @maureenmurenga, @TbWomenGlobal Coordinator’s leadership. At the #TBWomenLeadershipAcademy2026, the objective was not to create women who simply leave with more information. It was to strengthen women who can use their voice with greater confidence, navigate institutions, influence decisions and create opportunities for other women behind them. That is how leadership multiplies. @realTBpeople @Yplus_Global @ajws @StopTB @CS4MEglobal @GlobalFund @ahfkenya #WhenWomenLeadChangeHappens

Over time, @maureenmurenga, @TbWomenGlobal Coordinator, has moved through spaces where communities are heard, where programs are designed and where global health decisions are made. But access to those spaces is only part of the story. The deeper work has been turning that access into pathways for women whose lived experience and expertise have too often remained outside decision-making rooms. @realTBpeople @Yplus_Global @ajws @StopTB @CS4MEglobal @GlobalFund @ahfkenya #TBWomenLeadershipAcademy2026 #WhenWomenLeadChangeHappens

For @maureenmurenga, @TbWomenGlobal Coordinator, leadership has never been only about reaching the table. It has also been about asking a harder question: who else gets to sit there after you? That question has shaped a leadership journey grounded in community advocacy, institutional influence and intentionally creating space for other women to lead.
