WATCH: A weak system will brush northern Utah tonight into early Wednesday morning, bringing isolated showers. Changes arrive Friday as moisture increases across Utah. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible, mainly across southern Utah, with a localized flash flood threat. Saturday looks like a relative break with just a few light showers. A stronger storm moves through Sunday into Monday. Sunday is shaping up to be the most active day. The storm will bring widespread precipitation, and heavy rain could create additional flooding concerns, especially across southern Utah where soils remain saturated from recent storms. The system will also usher in much colder air, dropping temperatures 10-15 degrees below average early next week. Snow levels could fall to around 6000 feet by Monday morning.

Well, what do you know? States that built more housing have seen slower price change since their 2022 price peak. Fun Fact #Utah increased their housing stock the most of any state! ~14% more units from `20-25. #utpol

Meta had an internal PR plan to try and discredit Jon Haidt because he was a critic of social media. Meta was going to recruit academics, like Andrew Gelman, to write take down pieces. They were trying to turn academics against one another through a "whisper strategy". This is a very serious problem for open academic debate. If academics who share negative evidence about a platform are targeted by campaigns to smear our credibility, we are in deep, deep trouble. This creates a very serious conflict of interest for anyone who is paid to do this. law360.com/articles/2542517/…

❄️ SNOW IS RETURNING TO UTAH THIS WEEKEND! A much colder storm is expected to move into Utah Sunday into Monday, bringing widespread precipitation and a significant drop in snow levels. 🏔️ Here’s what we could see: * Mountain valleys and the Wasatch Back: A dusting to 2 inches of snow is possible in some areas depending on elevation. * Mountains: 2–6 inches. * Cottonwood Canyons and the Uintas: 6–12+ inches of snow possible. Snow levels could drop from around 9,000 feet to 6,000 feet by Monday morning, opening the door for snow at some lower elevations. ❄️

🌧️ SUNDAY LOOKS LIKE OUR WETTEST DAY! We have two storm systems heading our way, with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible across southern Utah on Friday. Saturday should bring a little break before a much stronger system moves in Sunday. Sunday is shaping up to be the main event. A Pacific storm will merge with the remnants of a tropical system, bringing widespread rain to Utah and SW Wyoming. Some areas could pick up heavy rainfall, and with soils already saturated across southern Utah, additional rain could increase the risk of flooding. The latest model guidance is showing some impressive rainfall totals. These amounts are still subject to change, but this is a system worth watching closely. ❄️ Much colder air arrives behind the storm. Temperatures will run 10-15° below normal early next week, with snow levels dropping to around 6,500 feet by Monday morning. I’ll keep you updated as we get closer to the weekend. Sunday looks to be the day to watch! 🌧️

It took about five seconds after the Supreme Court lifted the federal sports betting ban for the leagues to drop their righteous indignation and start coming up with ways to popularize gambling so they could profit from it.

Fun fact: When New Jersey legalized sports betting in 2012, it was the pro leagues—including the NBA—that sued to stop it. Chris Christie told me NBA commissioner David Stern cornered him at an event and shouted at him: "We're going to come after you with everything we've got."
The NBA has reached deals with Kalshi and Polymarket to make them the league's preferred prediction markets partners. The companies can now use NBA IP on their platforms, while the NBA gets right of approval on markets that they offer. That and more: nytimes.com/athletic/7723134…
