They call putting on voices cinematic, but nobody paints clearer pictures and relates to me on a personal level better than Drake. I'm not someone who needs fake characters, fake scenarios and alien voices to be engaged. Those are gimmicks to me and they actively disengage me.
Someone this unaware but willing to speak on something he knows nothing about shouldn't be trusted with anything. Especially not your money and investments.

But now I know we are not on the same level for me to even have this discussion. You can't even be honest or you clearly don't understand the music at all and that either speaks to you being deceptive or unintelligent. Either way my words are wasted so agree to disagree. Good day

The whole first half of the song is him directly responding to what she said. Saying that he shouldn't have to stay in because she chooses to and that she can do her own thing. Also that she can't kick him out of his own house. To say there was a couple of lines is a blatant lie.

"Strippers that you favor, but you say you don't go out that much." There we can see she had valid reasons for her concerns because he's not being honest about his habits. Move on to raining in Houston, he finally checks his phone after the club and sees her calls.

And stay in the house or should he go out. Then Give me a hug starts with him giving himself a pep talk/ affirmation on what's believed to be on his way into the club. Then he enters the club and starts speaking to the strippers, that Pimmie explicitly referenced in her song.

You are projecting your circles opinion outward as if this is the common rhetoric of the masses. That's just untrue. Also you are just being dishonest about $$$4U. That or you don't know the lyrics. Brian Steel is majority about him contemplating if he should listen to his girl.
Replying to @OnlyInDigital @LC_5000
What's also crazy about this "people" talk you are doing is that Drake has a WAY bigger fan base than Kendrick. So you can't even say you are speaking to the majority when you say "people don't consider Drake a story teller." You did a survey or something?
Replying to @OnlyInDigital @LC_5000
He doesn't tell stories in the way that we think stories should be told to be acknowledged by us. You can like explicit narration. That's fine. Doesn't mean you can say other types are invalid because they aren't your preferred literary method.
Replying to @OnlyInDigital @LC_5000
You are talking to me like you have some musical authority I need to defer. I know Kendrick has a fan base and many of them don't rate Drake. Telling me about what they think means absolutely nothing to me. You guys move the goal post. First it was he isn't a story teller to...
Replying to @LC_5000
But clearly we do. You keep saying "people" as if only you and those who think like you are the authority on this matter. But you are talking to someone and responding to a thread of many "people" who think differently. I see through this "objective commenter" disguise.

I mean we can agree to disagree. But he has more examples than that and I even listed some. Like I said, the artist known to write the soundtrack to many people's lives not being acknowledged is actually insane. Whether you like him or not. He's acknowledged within the industry.
When we identify "story tellers" that is colloquially understood to be rappers that are very skilled in the story telling aspect of the art form and commonly does so in their music. Not saying no other rapper has ever told a story. But limiting it to one type is anti intellectual
Replying to @LC_5000 @popexpicaso
I mean I don't know who wrote these rules because I've never had the discussion like that. Rap is rhythm and poetry isn't it? Much of poetry is story telling. That's like saying when we talk about poems we are only including Prose but not Haiku.

I think all builds leading to crit is a reflection of GGGs design flaws. If other scaling vectors aren't competitive why would anyone use anything but crit? Intentionally nerfing your damage to avoid being a " crit build" just seems silly. I mean even ailments scale with crit.
Replying to @LC_5000 @popexpicaso
Also people needing "explicit narration" to identify story telling is an indication of low literary comprehension. That just means those people need things spelled out for them. I never said the method was bad, but for it to be the only acknowledged method is what I'm criticizing
The idea that the artist who many have said "wrote the soundtrack to my life" or "has lyrics/ song for every experience" doesn't tell story's is absurd. Nobody has yet to address the 4 song stretch on $$$4U that tells am extended story from Pimmie's Dilemma to Raining in Houston.
It also tells a more subtle story about his relationship with his mother and how that contrasts to the environment he's in. She is a safe haven for him to express the thoughts and feelings he holds back while he deals with the shady industry. This self expression tells his story.
