One edge with on chain cards is the FMV valuations are way off when the market moves
For example, I have this PSA 6 LC Gengar that shows as being worth 2.2k~ meanwhile it has recent sales between 5-8k with a current auction at 5k with 3 days left
You can bid 100% over the "fair market value" and the owner may think they're fleecing you, meanwhile you're still getting a great deal under market

Killing time in the @Pokemon Center queue, so I opened PSA Vault Radar on @OnlySlabs_.
Spotted this undervalued PSA 10 Treekachu with ~8 hours left.
If there’s no late bidding war, a lucky collector might be able to snipe it for under $2k.

Part of the challenge of using pricing oracles (especially when dealing with pokemon listings from multiple marketplaces) is to normalize the identity of the card well enough to call 3rd party pricing APIs.
One thing we are experimenting with @OnlySlabs_ is to have the user confirm the identity of the card before we make the call to the API which helps reduce the number of false negatives.
We rolled this feature out in our Trophy Case (portfolio tab) and will soon be rolling it out to our main gallery/tools.

There are advantages and disadvantages to every marketplace, why limit yourself to just one ?
Huge fan of crypto rails for tcg / collectibles and build in the space myself, but just wanted to clear up misunderstandings around buyers premiums.
The 20-22% buyers premium on auctions should be baked into the final price / comp of the card (when you look at price history on alt/cardladder, they report on final price). For tcg, all these auction houses pay most of the buyers premium to the sellers. E.g. auction house I work with pays me 115% of hammer, buyer pays 120% of hammer so I get 96% of the final sale.
In addition they provide
- dedicated rep that responds within 20 mins almost 24/7, who each have their own ops team to resolve issues quickly
- free insured shipping of any value, including armored card transport
- active customer engagement with a buyer base I will never have access to (literal billionaires and Forbes 150 guys)
IMO they more than earned their fee. I’m 100% rooting for tcg rwa platforms but would encourage we focus on the real differentiators

I preordered some 30th celebrations from my LCS earlier this year and on release day, I left work early and pulled my daughter out of school.
We went to the LCS grabbed a table and spent the afternoon opening packs and enjoying every second of it.
I hope this becomes a core memory for her, it'll definitely be one of mine!

If you were following my lead and used @collectdotrip to buy and rip real pokemon packs, you should have gotten your first of 4 $TCG airdrops last night.
What's great about this airdrop was that it was based on volume (15-20% of your purchases), which is wild cause their packs were already some of the most fairly priced packs, often below market price.
Season 2 of points is now live, not sure what or if the terms will be the same as seasons 0 & 1 but what I do know is that this team understands how to take care of their loyal supporters.
How I would position myself for this next season?
- Stack 1M $TCG and verify wallet in discord
- Rip packs
- Refer users
- Make content for the team (pure guess here but wouldn't rule it out)
I would also try to do that soon before their next upgrade. I have a feeling that it might get a little crowded with an influx of users.
