We got your back, New York!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Several figures here aren’t federal results or NY-specific. The $472B combines US wide pledges: Micron's $250B is nationwide (NY site $100B) Anthropic's $50B covers TX and NY. The 48% murder drop is from NY's state run GIVE program (28 departments, Jan – May 2026).

i think emergent gameplay is good actually and shouldn't be replaced by single-item solutions
new transport method unlocked 😎
I still think we should be able to put a saddle directly on the sulfur cube. needing a lead/boat/pig/saddle is just annoying to setup lol #minecraft

Liberals: if Trump was competent, his second term could be much worse than it is now. We’re glad he’s not

Like wtf is their problem??

We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so.
Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training.

to study alignment one must first study misalignment

There is something deeply wrong with a political system that allows one trillionaire to buy his own personal U.S. Senator.

The “handpicked by the establishment” candidates are fucking dominating this cycle btw
Alright, i did not expect my post about a fun shader experiment to see ~1M+ people.
However it did, and so very many people want it. So here is a fabric mod which made my m4 max run minecraft at ~1,000 fps at 5k 120hz.

Another day of Unemployed Kyle (aka WDS) dunking on me because he has no real career experience.
His main complaint here is that I show multiple instances where I didn't know the depth of how part of a codebase worked.
Sounds bad until you realize it's a codebase with over 300 contributors and millions of lines of code. Doesn't matter how much AI is used, nobody knows the implementation details of all the code in a real world codebase like this.
The example he highlights is one where I was unfamiliar with details of how tagged skills are attached when we pass prompts to the Claude SDK. Funny enough, I know a lot (probably too much) about how we tag skills and how messages are passed over SDK, but this one intricacy was new to me.
Knowledge gaps like this are the norm in real world work. Learning to operate with partial understandings of systems is key to long term success as an engineer, regardless of AI usage.
I'm genuinely scared that inexperienced devs like Kyle are going to trick well-meaning juniors into holding back their careers.
The fact that instead of adapting to industry , one of the biggest channels in coding before AI decides just to attack other creators is funny
I didn’t watch a video and do not really care. I am not the biggest fan of @theo content but this is just beyond normal

Already seeing people calling this genocide and I think some of you think of people more like zoo animals, where you want to observe a wide variety of different types, more than you think of them as human beings needlessly committed to a lifetime of difficulty.

And neither does his dog.

My pet peeve is the fact that our entirely computerized banking system still pretends that it can't process deposits on a weekend or holiday.

Professor Dave: thirstiest debate bro to ever walk the earth, debates any internet crackpot he can find.
Mehdi Hasan: literally wrote a book about winning debates.
Both of them: PETRIFIED of debating Destiny despite repeatedly claiming he is clueless. What does that tell you?

I've been permanently banned from @Twitch for about 3 years because I said a particular group of militant trans-activists online were "inbred" and that they don't represent the average trans person.
The CEO, @djclancy999, is personal friends with @hasanthehun though, and the two of them are pretty motivated to keep me banned from the site.
The last time I applied for an unban, the Trust and Safety actually granted it and unbanned my account, but Hasan saw I was unbanned, started nervously texting/messaging Clancy, and then Clancy manually rebanned me from the website lol.
Authoritarian types can only exist in echo chambers because they cannot stand to be critically confronted, ever. It's why @hasanthehun avoids any challenging interviews, and why the types like @mehdirhasan will avoid answering actually critical questions from people with the knowledge to question them.
