Astonished by the miracle that is the @lfotweet Ring Cycle, after a staggering Gotterdammerung tonight. @LeeBisset’s Brunnhilde, the Wotan of @PaulCareyJones and the Hagen of Julian Close as good as I’ve seen anywhere.

Kudos to @LeeBisset for a searing portrayal of Brünnhilde in Götterdämmerung at @lfotweet yesterday. In a dark, male-dominated opera, Bisset's passionately sung performance was a gleaming symbol of fierce intelligence and female agency.

On Benjamin Britten’s 50th birthday, William Walton wrote: ‘Your music shines out as a beacon in a chaotic and barren musical world.’
Britten also wrote about Walton’s influence: ‘I’d got in a muddle… you showed me the way of being relaxed and fresh and intensely personal.’

Desert In is certainly something different. Comprised of eight 15- to 20-minute episodes, it’s an operatic experiment for the screen born of the pandemic and created at a time when streamable content was all audiences could hope for. And …

Today would have been the first night of our 2020 season, with the opening of Wagner’s Die Walküre. Instead, enjoy a short piece of Wagner (Träume, from Wesendonck Lieder) sung by our Brünnhilde @LeeBisset and accompanied by @OperaMaestro youtu.be/ai7dJQr5YpA

Have a listen to a very short bit of Alban Berg (Im Zimmer) from @LeeBisset and @OperaMaestro on @BBCRadio4: bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000ht… at 2:58:00 🎶. Lee would have been singing her first Brünnhilde with us in June.

Fantastic Isolde from Lee Bisset in Tristan @KonzertTheaterB - like watching Joan Collins in Dynasty. Vocally robust & just overflowing with charisma, she brought a new dimension: comedy, tenderness, sexiness, vivacity and a Liebestod that Liza Minnelli couldn’t have bettered. – at Berne, Switzerland
