Pues en este artículo que hemos publicado en la revista @NatureComms mostramos el descubrimiento del primer metamaterial programable natural. Y tú dirás… ¿y eso qué es? Pues algo que en el futuro podrá ser muy útil.

Scripting is also easy! Load your images into Frame objects, then pass them to ForSys: import forsys as fs → build frames{} per timepoint → forsys = fs.ForSys(frames) and then infer. Works for both experimental 🔬 and in silico 💻 data!
Thanks to all co-authors, labs, and collaborators! ForSys is free & open source. Find the detailed usage description in the Protocol (cell.com/star-protocols/full…) and the code, example notebooks & full docs here: github.com/borgesaugusto/for… Happy inferring! 🫧🔬

Would you like to run our Cellular Potts Model (#CPM) of neuromast regeneration in #zebrafish? It is now available in the amazing #Morpheus repository:

Curious about the Science? Check our paper: doi.org/10.1016/j.jtbi.2026.…
Thrilled to share this adventure on how zebrafish elongates its notochord! 🐟 Kudos to Carlos Camacho de la Macorra and @BenSteventon2 for leading it. @CeccarelliAS and I had so much fun modelling & uncovering unexpected predictions...

Our Mathematician of the Day is Daniel Bernoulli a Dutch-born member of the Swiss mathematical family. His most important work considered the basic properties of fluid flow, pressure, density and velocity, and gave the Bernoulli principle.

Our results show that the tissue-wide regenerative response of the neuromast is consistent with a delayed proliferation switch modulated by the the number of neighbors.

Comparison of the model simulations with experiments on regenerating neuromasts previously subjected to laser ablation suggests that our hypothetical proliferation switches are a robust mechanism of regeneration control.

Curious about how to achieve organ-wide #regeneration through locally controlled cell proliferation? Check out our latest computational adventure addressing this problem in the #neuromast within the #zebrafish lateral line.

We parameterized the CPM using our recent estimates of cell-cell interactions within the neuromast using our new method of Mechanical Stress Inference ForSys!

Interestingly, these interactions allow the integrity of the organ to be maintained.

How do we get such an ordered structure after the chaos of laser ablation? We decided to investigate this problem quantitatively by using a Cellular Potts Model (CPM).

Neuromasts are known to have a remarkable regenerative capacity! Hernán's lab has previously shown that after laser ablation of up to 90% of a neuromast, sustentacular & mantle cells undergo an ordered proliferation-dependent regenerative response.
