ALT The 2025 Etel Adnan Poetry Prize For a first or second book by a writer of Arab heritage Open September 1 - September 30 NOEMI OUT SPOKEN PRESS

ALT Etel Adnan Poetry Prize Since its inception in 2015 the series has sought to celebrate and foster the writings and writers that make up the vibrant and diverse Arab American community. Hayan Charara and Fady Joudah serve as editors and founders of the series. The prize is named in honor of the world-renowned poet, novelist, essayist, and artist Etel Adnan. In 2025, the Etel Adnan Prize moved to Noemi Press. Given Noemi's mission of creating daring poetry that counters the status quo and nurtures voices from marginalized communities, this collaboration is one of communal strength and passion. Additionally, in an effort to amplify the prize winners across readerships, Nomi Press has begun a partnership with Out-Spoken Press to publish Adnan series winners in the UK. NOEMI OUT-SPOKEN PRESS

The positive aspect is that there is now after two months some movement, but it's not nearly enough. There are over 30 students and researchers who still need urgent evacuation. ALT ONLINE WORKSHOPS I FIONA BENSON OUT SPOKEN PRESS LET IT BE EXTRAVAGANT Join Fiona Benson for a playful session of festive writing focused on generating lots of first drafts to work on in the ongoing winter season. Seeking inspiration from poems of the winter city, favourite tinsel and tat, Christmas trees and mistletoe, we will explore some personal winter fables as well as hearing tales of folk noir Christmas creatures like the Krampus, the Yule Kat, and poor old wandering Babushka. We will spend the last part of our session crafting little Christmas poetry zines - lovely little keepsakes to hang on the tree or give to someone. As Jane Kenyon writes in 'Taking Down the Christmas Tree': "If it's darkness / we're having, let it be extravagant. SATURDAY 14 DEC. 2024 | 1-4PM (UK) MAX. 30 PPL I £25
