$OSMO Osmosis wants to stop printing new tokens. Today, stakers get paid partly with freshly created OSMO, which slowly dilutes everyone who holds it. The new proposal would end that completely. Stakers would then be paid only from the fees the exchange actually earns, and because Osmosis keeps burning tokens, the supply would shrink by roughly 2% per year. The proposal also pauses the release of about 51.9M OSMO that are still set aside for developers. The community vote is planned for October 20. If it passes, Osmosis becomes one of the few Cosmos chains where stakers are paid by real users instead of by inflation. Sooner or later every blockchain has to pass that test.
