After the initial 30-day detention period expired, the women were not released despite no fresh MPO detention order being issued. Most seriously, the family says Aleema now faces terrorism proceedings and alleges another case is awaiting announcement, part of what it describes as an effort to keep her jailed. Rubina accuses authorities of using terrorism charges and repeated procedural delays to prevent their release, while questioning why the courts have not brought the detentions to an end. Their family still doesn't know when they're coming home. @KhanShershah says his aunts, Dr. Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi, have now reached the end of their 30-day detention under Pakistan's Maintenance of Public Order law. He says the family has received no new detention order, no explanation for their continued imprisonment, and neither woman has been allowed to see her family or lawyers. I find this absolutely disgraceful. These are two women whose brother happens to be Imran Khan. If the authorities have lawful grounds to keep them imprisoned, produce the order and let their lawyers challenge it. Otherwise, RELEASE THEM! A government that cannot tolerate the political loyalty of someone's sisters has a serious problem explaining what it thinks justice means.
